So, the police are better at solving murders here than in China? Than Japan? Than the UK?

I would believe it if our numbers weren't so high, but the police in those places are just as capable as solving murder..

As for Mexico; the gang murders are filed under gang murder, not serial killing..

Murder and serial killing is different; Columbia, S. Africa and Jamaica are at the top of the just Murder list.. America is 24th

It's makes you wonder about the kill count and how accurate it is.. And all the unsolved murders that could be tied to any of these or other killers..

The top guy Luis Garavito only got 22 years for killing and torturing at least 138 children

How on earth did that happen

and the second on the list was convicted of killing and raping 110 girls but only served 16 years and is now a free man

Didnt many serial killers grow up in extremely strict christian households? The more famous ones anyway...I'd say that also goes into the equasion...Ed Geinfor example had a crazy religious nutjob of a mother who kept him completely isolated,was overprotective and taught him that women are evil sinners etc. and she doesn't want to see him around them...That will f' you up mentally I reckon Oo...and all the other goodies that just come with strict religious upbringing: Shame and violence associated with sex, repressed rage, obsession with good vs. evil, fascination with living a secret life

So...with America still being full of retarded Christian nutjobs I'd put my money on religion as the main root of the problem. Especially for sexually motivated crimes...more specifically the combination of secular laws and a strict religious upbringing...

The U.S. also has the most reported rapes of any country, I found this hard to believe but the truth was even more shocking....and disappointing.

You really wouldn't think America would have these problems but I bet that's because we are all raised to think the U.S. is utopian like, leading the way for the future, the best country in the world. My, my, how I have been lied to.

I've read the books of true crime writer Ann Rule for years, and have seen a couple of notable things regarding American serial killers. It seems that a disproportionate number of them come from the Pacific Northwest, and many of them are children of mothers who were single at their birth, although they did not necessarily grow up in a single parent home, Ted Bundy being an example of that.

Also, until quite recently in history, almost all serial killers were white males. Males of other races tended more to mass murder as opposed to serial killing. All of that has begun to change, though. Now there are numerous instances of nonwhite and even female serial killers.

Stop and Think.

Maybe, just MAYBE, US serial killers are more publicized thant the others, both nationally and abroad.

The act of murder, including those that have multiple occurrences by the same perpitrator, are nothing new to society as a whole.

The difference lies in the ability and desire of the society to both identify/capture/prosecute the perp(s) and glorify the result or just get the situation over and done with.

It's all media related. Human scum are everywhere: it just depends on who is reporting on it and what/where their loyalties (i.e. finances) are derived from.

In essence; people suck. They kill because society allows them to do so.

Take a serial killer and kill his/her ENTIRE family, from parents on down to siblings and children. We'll see how many more want to go out and kill multiple other innocents for no apparent reason.

I volunteer for the execution squad.

I could get behind this IF other countries had higher serial killings or if US had less, but to say we have 76% because our detective work is better???

What makes you think Canada or Russia or China or Australia have less inept cops and detectives than here?


I DO think it has to do with some of it, sure, but to say, We only have more because we catch more, is a cop out..

Interesting thread.. Think a couple of reasons why fewer cases occure in asian countries are 1. They dont have the culture of violence that america has 2. Asian culture values human life more than western culture does alot less homicides per capita in asian countries than in western countries.
Also contrary to the misguided idea a few have here regarding police departments in other countries .. Japan has one of the best police forces in the world along with lowest crime rate.
Singapore has a good police force. China has a good police force its safer to walk the streets in most asian countries than it is in the u.s.

This guy really creeps me out: Kenneth Anger

There's several things about this guy that would send red flags, but i can't put my finger on why he bothers me....

Well to be fair the mexican ones come here to commit their murders. And usually flee to mexico before getting caught. Just look at how the border is like a damn war zone anymore drug cartels killing thousands of people. And they are all from Mexico!
