Found this video on the internet of two structures standing beside a heart shaped lake on Tristan da Chuna, a remote island in the South Atlantic. I went to Google earth to investigate myself but the area has been censored. Quite hard to tell from the video weather these are man made or natural, but still worth a look!

They can probably research facilities and they are built near to the lake because water is very important in all kinds of experiments.

I found a website for the island at www.tristandc.com and found a picture of the heart shaped lake. It is taken when snow covered but appears to be a rock outcrop to me. I emailed their website to ascertain if there are any buildings there. You should check out the site, their history is very interesting.

I have seen the website, and know a fair bit about the history of the islands. I dont think the rock outcrops would produce the shadows in the original picture. I was more curious as to why the the area has been censored by google and the objects possibly removed. The summit has only recently been made accessible and only if accompanied by an official island guide.

here is a picture of the site showing the rocks you mention

heart shaped lake

For anyone interested, here is an article about a genealogy study using DNA on the islanders. A true glimpse of human nature..!

I don't really have an answer for the Google image and that portion not being visible now. I find it interesting that they piece together images to form pictures of islands. I mean come on, they are so small, can't you get the image in one pass? Who knows.....

I found another image of that area from the opposite side that shows the rock formations.

Mystery solved with regards to the "structures" described in the video, the gradient of the bank would explain the long shadows. Still find it weird that google have obscured the crater...even though its been pieced together, the crater itself has been obscured and it was previously visible!
