Young Beijing Architect Lives in Mobile Egg House on Sidewalk

In China, an architect who could not afford living expenses apparently has been living in a 2 meter egg-shaped dwelling on the sidewalk, made of sack bags and bamboo. I posted a link to story which has some pictures in it. All I can say after reading this is I want one too!

If you tried to build that in america and live in it, they'd find some way to confiscate and destroy it. I wonder if he is not breaking any ordinances where he lives..obviously not I suppose, if he's still there.

In the article, the guy said he is doing it because he cannot get a good enough paying job to be able to afford conventional living arrangements. So he used what money he had to build the egg, and he says that living in egg saves him alot of money.

Since the egg has wheels, I am sure he could just move it to another location if he gets hecked about it wherever he happens to be staying.

lol, $954 is a fair bit in China..
Heck, I could buy a cheap caravan here in Australia with that.

I also wonder where he plugs that lamp into..
It's too bright to be battery operated...

I could just see my local council allowing me to park that on a pavement here in OZ..

I would imagine that it would be waterproof to an extent, due to the robust sack bag and bamboo walls.

the young people in china has a heavy pressure now .many graduates can't find a good job and even they find the salary is not high .recently the price of the house increase rapidly .so many can't afford the rent .so the egg-house appear in this situation

i know that the real estate in china don't develop properly .the biggest problem that the young people face is the house .many people don't have enough to buy or rent so the egg-house appear
but it looks very funny

I have to say that he is so talented and brave to do such a thing ,he is also creative ,i like his house ,so alternative ... And i think this is also a irony for the Chinese high housing price...

Well I just read a new article on this, they have taken away his egg house, probably cause they couldn't get any fees from it. I thought it looked great for a young single person.
