Bush before he adresses the nation tonight has ordered all American repoters to leave Iraq as soon as possible. This sounds like what happened before Desert Storm happened. Bush sr. had to repoters leave and then we bombed them. We just have to wait for the terror alert to be raised and we have to see what Bush says in his speec tonight.

Hmmm...Didn't someone post a similar thread around here somewhere...About how the Pentagon threatens to *shoot any independant reporters* they find?

The earlier warning was to "independent" reporters, meaning that they aren't affiliated with an organization who's responsible for making sure their news is approved by military censors, so that they aren't leaking secret information....

This new warning is to ALL reporters, basically stating that Iraq will be a potential warzone in 48 hours or more...

so instead of being:
"has ordered all repoters to leave Iraq as soon as possible"
Well is like saying, get away from our bussiness, we will inform about what we think that should be known, we will not allowed free speech or open press!

Then u just get cnn/abc etc etc etc, that are getting the videos ,images and pictures that the army allowed and gave to press for release it as public war information...

If you don't register with us, so we can tell you where to report from that's safe....the rooftop that you're on might not be there when you say "cut".....

It's a standard disclaimer that the military will not be held responsible if you go roaming around a warzone without an escort...

"Independant" reporters or not, issuing warnings for reporters safety or not...The fact still remains that the Pentagon has ordered "shoot on sight". If independant reporters go into a combat zone, it would stand to reason that they are aware of the risks they take & still take them willingly (more or less, if they want to keep their jobs anyway
)...Yet, now they face a *new* risk (as if being in combat zones wasn't risky enough to begin with) of "friendly" forces being *ordered* to shoot them...American soldiers under orders to shoot other Americans simply for being an independant news reporter.

If you don't consider that to be a blatent threat to the 1st Amendment, then what *would* you consider to qualify?
