Lost But Happy....

I've been following the Real Time ATS page since I stumbled onto it some time ago. There's always something interesting there.

Yesterday, there was a thread that spoke of ulterior motives for the scanners in the airports. I have a theory of my own and wanted to add it to the thread but alas, when I signed up and went to the forums I had NO CLUE how to find that thread. I don't remember the title or anything and it had already rolled off the Real Time page.

My theory is that those scanners are not in airports for anything to do with bombs. I think they are scanning people's faces for the face recognition systems that the government now has. This would be one of the only ways that the government could confirm your identification (passport, etc.) and get a scan of your face to match together. How else would they acquire that information since most people would not comply to a request to come in and get "face-printed" so to speak? Over time, as the scanners are deployed in train and bus stations, etc. those that don't fly will also get processed for their files. Yes, there are many that will refuse to go through the machines but what a enormous dent it will put in the images they need. This would also explain their practice of pulling "random" people out of line to get scanned. If they have your face on file already there's no need to scan you again. And the aggressive pat-downs are simply something to deter people from refusing the scans which is working the vast majority of the time.

Can anyone please tell me how to find the thread that relates to this topic?

I had done a search for TSA and scanners and OL was right; it brought back a "multitude" of threads so I really appreciate the help.

I'm not in a hurry to do so but just wondering what the purpose of needing to have twenty posts before you can start a thread is. At first I was thinking it probably cuts out spammers but wouldn't that be accomplished with about 5 or 10 posts?
