They're not. Bush privatized space and cut NASA's funding to ribbons.

...Haven't investigated this properly, but it looks like a set-up to me - designed to rationalize the continued privatization of space, and the imposition of International Trade Law and Corporate Law -and Corporate Government- on space exploration, mining and the like.

Ever seen Aliens, Total Recall, Robocop? There's another good one, relevant, with Sean Connery but forget the name. ...Anyway, that's what's coming.
