I read that article, and frankly it sounds like more of a Tom Clancy novel than anything truly likely to happen. Well the military scenarios particularly. It was a rather comical read frankly.

Tom Clancy novels are part of the American cultural mystique, portraying brave, wise, kindhearted but tough heroes doing what must be done to save the universe from the twin evils of Socialism and Shia Islam control of any oil wealth of the Galaxy.

GW Bush is quite fond of Clancy novels. For a while there, I was convinced that he thought of himself as Jack Ryan. As long as American policy makers and policy doers see themselves as characters in a Clancy novel there is the danger of them actually attempting to play by one of the scripts.

But seriously, the way things are going, I expect the US to exhaust every source of credit available trying to militarily surround China and control every conceivable pipe or shipping lane between oil and gas production and China. Those two week long joint military exercises that have been going on back-to-back steadily since June are rather expensive games. Next year's deficit budget will set a new record.

The countries of the world will keep taking US military aid money (Israel getting $3 billion for free without any settlement freeze) and then stop cooperating as soon as credit is exhausted. Bye-bye empire.

I like what you wrote in the previous post

say show up with your navy and say, "excuse me IDF, please step out of the way we need to conduct business with this state."
Then just park em there with air defense and leave the systems activated for a distressed state. No more bombs from the sky.

Hillary Clinton gave a speech to the effect that Palestine should only exist in the manner Israel decides. If that's US policy, then some weakening of US muscle and standing up to US coercion is necessary for International norms to prevail. Justice is on the side of Palestinian people. A just recompense from Israel seems very high to me.
