If You Can't Say Something Nice...

Can I just go ahead and say one thing?

I am pretty new here and I have noticed so much hostility on this site as far as everyone believing/supporting/not believing/debunking/trolling, and I would just like to say that it is kind of making this site look bad. When people post things like

Wow, 5 minutes of my life was just wasted.

or just blatantly ridiculing and bashing the OP.

No one MADE you watch the video or read the thread! We don't need to slam other people for their opinions or a video or picture that they post that they believe could actually be something!
It goes back to basics.
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!

If someone posts something that you don't agree with, you don't have to tell them how stupid they are for believing it, or tell them it was a waste of your life. Because in reality, it was actually you who wasted your life by watching something that you knew ahead of time was not going to persuade you to change your opinion. It's just not necessary to be mean and hateful!

I have read many threads that I didn't agree with or believe. But did I troll or rip/bash/mock them? No! I moved on to another thread. IF I posted anything, I stated my opinion, then gave support on why I believed the way I did.

I just thought that I should say this, because for a while after joining, I was scared to post things because I was afraid of what people would say to me. No one should feel like that on a forum where we should all be helping each other.

I don't want any new members to feel the way I did when I first joined

I got three ignorant posts today due to the fact poeple only read the title before posting! they obv didnt even glance at the thread itself

My signatures a toast/qoute off of a film called "Hitch".
I like it too it encourages poeple to Actually rather than just exist.

Sometimes you have to have a bit of a thick skin to survive on ATS. There are lots of people who are nice, but many of us tell it like it is and can get a bit harsh in the process. Hang in there. If you don't have a thick skin now, you soon will.

Ha ha! Thanks for the input. Maybe I am thin skinned, but to me there is a fine line between being blunt and being rude and many people don't know where that line is!

Oh and btw, I LOVE your picture! I love doggies and Christmas so doggie+Christmas = lovex2!

Yep its like in real life. One thing that annoys me is when you live in england and you walk into a shop and peopel behind the counter speak in foreign language. I think this is so rude, and i am sure it puts of customers.

At least we do not have that on the net. But its one thing i hate and you cannot say anything.
