mind boggling question for ANYONE whos watched a western!

no different than in any action movie where the hero is facing 12 guys with pipes, knives, chains etc and, instead of ganging up and beating him senseless, they go in one at a time

or every bond and bond like movie where our hero is caught and tortured or set up to die ....in 14 minutes.
why not just kill him and end the movie.
