Can China Invade Taiwan?

Taiwan was made to give up it's nuke program.

If it had developed Nukes we wouldn't be talking on this thread cause everyone knows China is afraid of the strong and prey only on the weak.

Russia could have given either of those Nation's the tech for the right priace, like China could have.

Doesn't this statement go directly against what you said about them willing to risk Nuclear War with America? Are America weak in your book? Because your prior statements display them risking it all to stand up against them...

I don't like the idea of using nuclear weapon in wars so I am glad Taiwan didn't develop any. But on the other hand, this also means Taiwan needs other ways to protect itself from being nuked by some nuts.

And although Pegasus program didn't complete, I am sure its development is useful for the later missiles developed by Taiwan.

People from Taiwan are CHINESE. The people of Taiwan are Chinese people who belonged to the Kuomingtang party of China. When the Communist rose up, they moved to Taiwan. Itsl ike saying Republicans and Democrats are of different nationality and that they should seperate into two countries...

That is incorrect. Not all Taiwanese belong to KMT. Many, many people already live in Taiwan long before KMT came.

Also, understand that KMT and CCP are political parties but are not similar to Democrats and Republicans at all.

Taiwan now has 4 major political parties, DPP, KMT, TSU and PFP.

And I can argue with u about "Taiwanese are CHINESE" statement, but as it has been discussed many times before I will just leave it.

What the hell are you talking about, North Korea built its own nukes, and Pakistan also builds its own nukes. What have you been reading, not even Taipei Times give information that's THAT off.

As for who the Taiwanese are, they are migrants from mainland China who colonised the island from a few centuries ago. I wouldn't say the situation now is like Democrats vs Republicans, it's more like Britain vs. US. Taiwan is like a colony of China that wants to become independent, just like the US was once a colony of Britain but later became independent. (But I know many Brits still consider the US as part of Britain )

As for North Korea, there is no clear evidense, but there were rumors about PRC providing resources for NK...but wether that is true or not is unclear.

Maybe not as similar to Republicans vs. Democrats but the MAJORITY of people from Taiwan ARE chinese. Damnit how can you say they arent? PLEASE show me some proof or argument that the majority of people in Taiwan aren't chinese. For god's sakes the president of Taiwan is ethnically chinese. If you say he isn't, please PLEASE PLEASE GOD give me an explanation/argument. To say someone from Taiwan isn't Chinese is to say someone from Canton isn't Chinese. Sheesh to say the language spoken in Taiwan and the language spoken in Mainland is different is totally stupid, they are in fact the same. British English and American English are 100x more different than Taiwan mandarin and Mainland Mandarin, so I think you get the picture about the difference in language right?

It was America intervention that kept Taiwan from going any further.

If I had been in charge I would have egged them on. "Come on can't Taiwan produce a nuke any faster?"

I seen a recent poll done in Taiwan where 80% did not consider themselves chinese. They consider themselves Taiwanese first and foremost.

^^ Hell, that still doesn't mean that they aren't Chinese.
