Don't know....they should just take it out, or you could move somewhere that has or you can put a well in or if you can't move, just buy bottled water or get a filter...But if I remember right it was the bright idea of some researchers in the 40s (Started in the 50s but most of them didn't get floride until the 60s or 70s, look at the first link). They said puting floride in the water was one step twords helthy teeth.....it worked.....but little did they know the stuff had toxic abilities....

Heres some links that may help.....

To answer your question, Alcoa somehow convinced the government with some study they paid for, that Fluoride is healthy for teeth.

This is an interesting article about how Fluoride got into our water system.

Historically, this substance was quite expensive for the worlds' premier chemical companies to dispose of - but in the 50's and 60's - Alcoa and the entire aluminum industry - with a vast overabundance of the toxic waste - SOMEHOW sold the FDA and our government on the insane (but highly profitable) idea of buying this poison at a 20,000% markup and then injecting it into our water supply as well as into the nation's toothpastes and dental rinse. Yes that's right folks, a 20,000% markup. Consider also that when sodium Fluoride is injected into our drinking water, its level is approximately 1 part-per-million (ppm), but since we only drink of one percent of the total water supply, the hazardous chemical literally 'goes down the drain' and voila - the chemical industry has not only a free hazardous waste disposal system - but we have also PAID them handsomely in the process!!

There was an industrial accident in New Jersey, I believe, and lots of floride had excaped into the environment. It caused severe damage to the crops, the lifestock, and the people in the communities down wind. To avoid litigation in this event, they ordered studies done pertaining the the possible health effects of the stuff. Well, the words were changed and statements like...."they had no teeth" were turned into they had less cavities. well, it stuck, and now we have flouride added to our water.

www.apfn.org...

I've read the same thing on other site also.
also, there is a site called iris, that is part of the EPA, they have alot of chemicals in their database with the studies they had done. IT can be found by doing a search for epa, iris. I'm not sure if this was the site of if it was osha, but one had all these harmful effects of flouride listed, deterioration of the teeth, and bones, ect...but then at the end it states that these risks aren't present when it comes to the small amount in the water. Why, I don't know... it might be a small amount, but since it is added to the water, it's in alot of our food and beverages we consume, add that to the flouride in the toothpaste, ect...well, we are being overdosed. Also if you look into it far enough, you will find stories that the Nazis gave it in their concentration camps to keep the people docile....the studies done by our gov't found that it impaired mental capacity. In some countries, the communities cannot take it our of their water supply, not without the permission of the central government. which is kind of troubling really. as it is, never expect our government to admit now that it is unhealthy, they won't....not when there reason it is there is to cover up a disaster back then...

Fluoride is only dangerous in huge amounts, like many other substances, including your personal favourite H2O. Research found no toxicity over a 2 year period with 200 ppm and the amount in drinking water is around 0.7 ppm. The concentrations in drinking water are perfectly harmless according to all research to date. I doubt you can show me evidence to the contrary.

The overwhelming weight of scientific evidence indicates that fluoridation of community water supplies is both safe and effective.
