Yeah I find it pretty funny when the people who are really serious about the game get upset. I'm not the greatest at this game I haven't played it for very long, so I find it funny too when people get pissed at me because I had a game where I went like 4 and 20 or something like that. I take it in stride though, and shoot them later when they get put on the opposite team.

LoL. MW2 became one of my favorites watching my husband play also

I still have a soft heart and cry but I always thought this was another game to keep us occupied and tuned out. I have also thought that it was a way for non military and non gun fanatics to be familiar with weapons and such should something happen in the future. If things like that in games are real, then I can tell you now i had NO CLUE what a SCAR-H was or an AUG BEAR or STINGER. LoL, at least now i can tell you SCAR is the best but AUG carries larger magazines and I rather have a STINGER any day over a JAVELIN

Plain and simple the games were created to control your minds. It is Mind Control. The games are a form of mind control. Oh, did I mention that the games are a way of controlling your mind. They bend your thought process in such a way that you are not even aware what is happening to your brain and your mind. You are allowing it to happen to you so that you experience the emotions and feelings that the actions create. Do you really think that when you feel something deeply enough that it doesn't create it in your reality? If that's the case, then you don't really understand how we create and you don't really understand how we attract to us the very things that we think about. It invokes emotions that seem to be played out in the game but they are being played out in reality as well, even if its another dimensional reality. So what if we are multi-dimensional beings? Is that the reality you really want to live in your other dimensions? If not, then stop playing them and start being your own creator. You're letting someone else determine how you live and what you experience. The truth is not usually seen or heard, but that doesn't change that it is the truth. My son started playing warhammer when he was very young. His dad bought it for him. Before I realized the damage that was done it was too late. Now he is a trained killer (a marine) and I can only guess what the future holds for him. He was trained from a very young age to kill, kill, kill and my ignorance allowed it. You see he was trained to kill before he even held a real gun in his hands. Also, public education drilled in his head for a full half year of school in his sophomore year the history of the holocaust. It doesn't stop with the games. The mind control comes from the north, south, east and west.

Interesting...That's something I've wondered about myself. I think I touched on the idea in my third point. I do believe that your thoughts create your reality to an extent, and what I'm curious about is if you have millions of people focused on the same thing, if it will bring that "reality" into existence. That's why I mentioned the 100 monkey theory...I think it might be along a similar line. However, I believe too that there could be some usefulness to games like COD, in that they allow people to vent their frustrations in a non-harmful way, but this raises the question, is that really helpful, because are these negative emotions/ frustrations people feel being dealt with in a positive fashion when people play games such as these?

If you take the time to play any of the fps' like CoD or MoH in single player mode and allow yourself to become immersed into the storyline, I think that would more than likely deter people from wanting to have a "warlike" mindset. The situations played out in some of the levels deal with situations such as losing someone you fight along side of in combat and killing innocent civilians when you play the role of a terrorist, all in very graphic detail that will only become more realistic as technology gets better. I played through that terrorist level in CoD: MW2, mind you I did this because I take advantage of any opportunity to experience a different person's mindset, and I honestly felt emotionally drained after finishing the level.

I think as fps games make war video games more realistic, it will put people off of the idea on wanting war rather especially as the technology advances and allows for people to more graphically experience war's true nature on both a psychological and emotional level. We may even begin seeing some individuals in the near future could suffer from PTSD related to video gaming because the veil between reality and the game begins to lift. But that will depend on how far down the rabbit hole the companies want to take the player.

I remember the terrorist level, it was pretty grusome. The story line for MW2 is pretty intense, I'll agree. It would probably steer most people away from those situations witnessing how creepy they are just in a game format.

Ever since the army invented the use of first person shooter for training, the percentage of people who will shoot and kill face to face has risen dramatically...which they have been trying to accomplish since the beginning of army training...programming

Well Ive been playing violent games for a while now and I still am saddened when people are in pain and suffering. What does that mean? I dont believe i have become desinsitized at all. I think your OPINION of games may be a little off there Andy.

I think i am right, why does the military train with simulators, that are practically like call of duty?

Dehumanistaion is the reason for the games and films.

I dont know about that man. Im pretty sure the military has been training well before the late 70's. How did they dehumanize soldiers before CoD?

It's just as easy to dehumanize an individual with good ole sandbag with Bin Ladin's face on it than betting money on advanced simulation systems that run the risk of having a pacifying effect when people are shown the realities of war.

Violent games are just entertainment. If we didn't have violent games then the same people, myself included, that play those games would be off somewhere looking for the next best thing, porn.

I dont play games and dont get the hype.. what I DO get is that I pay tons of money for my teen daughter to get these games... and she finishes them too fast. Black Ops was supposed to be more difficult... darned kid finished it the day I bought it.

To counter some of the weird arguments here.. she has not been desensitized as far as I or anyone else can tell. Maybe the weak minded or people predisposed to being influenced by little things like games are effected.. I dont believe well adjusted normal people are under that same threat. She DOES have a high IQ and is considered "gifted".. maybe thats the difference. She is capable of discerning fantasy and game play from reality. If you cant do that much, you dont need to be playing games or watching much tv in the first place. Kinda like those that had life altering religious experiences or fainted while watching Avatar

Ok...I've decided to kind of update my thoughts on this subject a little bit.

I think it's pretty safe to say that video games do desensitize people to some extent. But looking at the big picture, it's not just video games which have become more graphic and violent over the years, it's everything. Look at movies like Saw...what are we at now, saw 6 or something? It's everywhere.

However the problems we find with people being more violent, less empathetic, etc. probably stem from more then just desensitization. I think the real problem arises when people completely substitute these things for real human contact, or when watching TV or playing video games replaces all other outlets. For example, people tend to find video games pretty addictive, there's the whole competitive nature of it. When you're spending all your time trying to level up your character or weapons or whatever, it leaves less room for more creative pursuits, like learning, arts, music, sports, etc.

It's about balance and moderation, which can really be applied to everything, not just games and porn.

Those games do many things:

- Allow us to vent our frustrations
- Help to develop good hand-eye coordination
- Promote strategical thinking, and problem solving skills

But, here's one thing they really do - and, this just kinda hit me after seeing the commercial... they make killing cool - specifically, those who pose a threat to America's and Americans' way of life.

You know the real reasons why we are in all other countries. (we talk about them here, all the time)

We gotta teach'em while their young that what we do, to keep having the highest SOL on the planet, has consequences, and those consequences include kicking a little ass, expoliting a few resources.

So sad, but so true. You gotta play the bully card as long as you can (and right now we got the biggest rock).

There is no doubt in my mind about that fact that games like Call of duty are well made to get young people the closest to stupidity and the farthest from our true nature. You just have to log on 10 minutes and listen to what people have to say into the voice chat. I have myself played those games a lot, I know how addictive they are, how fun they are, I am not blaming the video games industry in general, because I truly think that playing certain type of games can effectively increase different skills of an individual (depends of the personnality). However, we also have to be objective.

Give me one simple proof that playing the Black ops singleplayer and multiplayer, for instance, cutting people's throat, killing everyone on sight, getting joy or pleasure from it, blowing everything up, feeling anger from dying, how could that be beneficial for a young individual? And please, don't bring me the ''It increases eye-hand coordination movement'', because even if this is true, there are other games, a lot better than the last example, that can do the same and much more.

Yep, I know what you're saying, I make it a policy to mute everyone in the lobby before the match begins. You have some valid points, something that focuses so much on our savage aspects can't be that good for humanity. However, it may provide a channel to dispel the negative energy some people feel/experience, then again, it might just amplify it.

Regardless of how much sense that made, your only redirecting attention to something that has very little influence toward it's target audience.

If a child was raised with just an ounce of decency, then all of what you mentioned wouldn't even phase them. And regardless of what you believe, the game was designed for a mature audience. But it so happens kids today 'grow up too fast' and become products of bad parenting.

Yes we get it, it makes sense but ultimately it's just a consumer item. If you want to advocate rational thinking, then I rather you challenge the audience to see past the propaganda than dismissing or discrediting their right to experience it.

Anyone who thinks the modern warfare series has been 'anti-Russian' need to look harder at the plot lines. Yes, we do fight the Russians, but the whole war is started by an Ultra nationalist madman bent on taking over the world for himself(not for the Russian people). And in Modern Warfare 3 it all comes to a head and the war is ended. I mean, there is a level where you try and protect the Russian president on his flight to the peace talks, which of course is highjacked by the Ultra Nationalist madman's goons.

Now as for the desensitizing to violence that these games bring, there isn't much there IMO. Sure, you learn to shoot straighter, be more tactical, and not second guess pulling a trigger or melee attacking someone. But that is what it was made for, and if it wasn't fun it wouldn't sell so well. I think you can find violence in all types of games. Look at good old Civilization. You can be diplomatic or wipe out entire cultures, is there no violence in that(regardless if its shown in extreme detail or not)?
