Okay folks, so who do you think will be person of the year?

Keep in mind that it's usually the most influencial person in the world, so it may be someone you hate, or it may be someone you love, but you can usually agree they had a huge impact on the world this year.

Now I'm sure many are thinking Julia Assange, and infact he is #3 in the running. #2 is Lady Gaga... which, ehhhhh.. no comment. The current front runner is the Turkish PM, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Official List thus far:

1 Recep Tayyip Erdogan 88 164396
2 Lady Gaga 79 111684
3 Julian Assange 82 79101
4 Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert 84 56989
5 Glenn Beck 39 53550
6 Steve Jobs 68 15288
7 Barack Obama 62 16641
8 The Unemployed American 70 12084
9 The Chilean Miners 53 13971
10 Sarah Palin 37 17512

Current List

Assange's Time's Profile

Past "Winner's"

At this point I believe the most influencial person of the year is SELF EVIDENT.

What do you think?

Assange would certainly be an intriguing choice.
How do you think the governments of the world would take to that announcement?

So far, at least the second half of 2010, Assange has been one of the most newsworthy persons. MAny people before June or July had no idea who this cat even was, let alone what wikiLeaks is. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see him named Person of the Year.

Although looking at the past winners, I now see that the 'Whistleblowers' won in 2002, did Assange miss his chance by 8 years?

Because as repugnant as it is to me and everyone else here on the Island of Misfit Minds, she probably will be the idiot that Time puts on the cover this year.

They never dare to put anyone truly brilliant on there...
not in recent history, that I recall, at any rate.

Forgive me if I am wrong.

Clinton was Time Person of the Year twice within a decade, so a repeat seems to be within the rules.

Wouldn't be suprised if Lady Gaga wins it. I'm sure ET's will get a laugh out of that one when they realize humans are actually devolving.

Hey If Our Lady of GaGa wins it, I for one will applaud.

Seems to be as good a choice as anyone else on the list.

its all propaganda and fantasies anyway.

they chose a dual citizen a few years ago, ben bernanke, who is one of the biggest traitors in the country today.

im amazed after joining ATS, anyone actually bothers to read propagandist trash like time anymore. i cringe when i see the news. in fact, in my gym, i bring my remote control, and change all the news channels to sports, movies, and cartoons! no doubt, those are sumbliminally just as bad, but it is not knocking you over the head with lies.

at first people kept trying to change the channels back to cnn, msnbc, etc. but i won! now no one puts the news back on in my gym!

and these are GIANT tv screens to boot! 6 giant screens in front of a cardio room the size of 3 basketball courts. and there is no more propaganda pumping over the airwaves in there! ha.

Sarah Palin representing the TEA Party, or why not TEA Partiers in general.

Didn't they name "everyone" Man of the year just a couple of years ago?

lady gaga second is pretty sad.

just shows alot of people are more into mainstream pop culture than other things that are more important in life.

If 4chan gets their hands on it this year like they did last year, the winner of the list will be whoever they want it to be. I don't give any credence to the TIME 100 anymore.

"Time's Person of the Year" award is about as much a joke as the "Nobel Peace Prize" is now.

What about a "As-of-yet Unprosecuted Criminal of the Year"?

1) Ben Bernanke
2) Barack Obama
3) George W. Bush (Warcrimes violations give him candidacy status until 2018)
4) Al Gore
5) Hillary Clinton
6).....etc?

There is nothing more important in life than dancing and having fun. Everything else is just noise.
