I believe this is actually very true. In the article it discusses how "big" the "bomb" was, but from the beginning it was a non bomb, so it just looks as big as the FBI want without ever having been a threat. It just gives scarier details to the article. Had he gone somewhere else the bomb might have been a pipe bomb, or firecrackers. They actually did make it seem to be more of a threat than it needed maybe.

Well, it did say he sent them the parts so maybe that isn't true.

That is a very good point that I had not thought of. The bombs size is used in the article in order to demonstrate to the citizens how bad it could have been, but then again that same bomb was non-existent until the FBI helped out in its manufacturing. They chose to produce a larger, although inert, explosive. For the "psychological" effect.

Exactly. When I read it and realized it annoyed me.
Though they did say he mailed them the parts, so maybe they made it to order.
I'm not sure, but I'd bet on the fear factor.

While I agree what you are saying, wholeheartedly. I dont trust the govt.
However, this seems plausible. It may not have went down exactly as we are being told, but if these things are true, than it really doesnt matter.
If they guy actually showed up at the scene of the targeted attack and dialed the phone...then he really did exist.
Saying the entire situation was orchestrated by the FBI is a far reach. The guy existed right?
Maybe they could have stopped it earlier. But as mentioned before, if they feel they have everything under control, and there will be no harm in allowing him to finish out his mission, it was probably in the best interest to let him in order to see if they could find out who else may be in involved. Its common police tactics.
While I say that I dont trust our govt, I also want to state that not ALL people are bad. Not everyone has a different agenda. That goes for the FBI as well. While some are corrupt, I truly believe (maybe to allow me to sleep better at night) that most are not.

Yeah. I hear ya. I have to admit that really, what I am interpreting from the article is speculation, but I wouldn't necessarily call it entirely blind speculation. What is left for hypothesizing here is the difference between aiding the suspect or the full on instigation of the event. The way I feel the FBI allowed this to play out seems like it was all done attentively in a way that allowed them to save the day, but as well, they saved it at a point when there was the most danger accumulated. I feel like if it was honestly done in this way in order to find more ties to other terrorists (just like it was said about the underwear bombers sharply-dressed escort) than would it have been really with reason to allow him go so far as last night with parking his car and dialing his phone? Clearly the FBI knew plenty of time in advance about his planned date of bombing(maybe even decided for him). Why couldn't they have just cuffed him earlier that day? Or the night before? They weren't going to be getting any new information from him in only days prior to his attack. They had been communicating for months at this point. It is in my opinion that they allowed him to create the vision of this terrorist attack solely for the public to feel the danger themselves.

You need evidence now?

Oh come on now... of COURSE they need evidence... how else will they convince us to accept those new TSA goons?

That 'Panty bomber' was most likely a set up so they can fondle your junk at airports. They need as much evidence as they can to justify these searches, coming soon to a place near you

Even the Senators are starting to understand that

Come on America wake up to the games they are playing..

Or are you really okay being treated like this?

Authorities allowed the plot to continue, so that they could find him guilty of the highest charge. There is a huge distinction between conspiring to, and actually attempting to.

Like any drug bust or prostitution sting, there has to be an exchange of money and follow-through of intent to commit the crime.

Had the FBI not allowed it to play out, he could have easily said he was going to "change his mind" and never actually go through with it..... which would have put him back on the street within months.

I find it very hard to believe that in todays state, where the average citizen is treated as criminal for doing nothing wrong, that this guy would be walking the streets only months after going so far as to building a bomb and being fed plans as to where to place it and detonate it.

Maybe the asshole would have actually changed his #ing mind. The thing is, it would have been wonderful if he changed his mind. But of course that wouldn't have been very good for the FBI now would it? Maybe he would have never even bothered going through all this in the first place if it wasn't for his more than helpful buddies, the FBI.

Im not defending anyone who is even willing to consider constructing a weapon, but this, to me, based on what this article reveals, is a piss poor excuse for justice. To me, it is more akin to a stage play.

This suspect that our cunning FBI mentored through the process, was most likely not even 18 years of age when the FBI first established communication. That is an important point on its own because it raises the question of, Was a teenager really the one who conspired the main blue print of this attack? Could someone of that age be the mastermind? I see it as an impressionable, although still psychopathic, teenager that was taken advantage of as the FBI(under the guise of experienced terrorist) spooned him the entire plan.

wth???
there seems to be 2 different stories
on this same event. From the article
I read on another site, it stated NOTHING
about the man sending them bomb parts.
It was stated that the FBI supplied all
the materials for the so-called saw-dust
bomb.

Now which story is correct??

Have the FBI changed their story
to the press to make their case
look justified?

And it is well known a similar plot
to catch terrorists in NY, that incident
involved the FBI supplying guns and
missiles.

I think there is something fishy here.
