exactly! and we are just as alien as they are...welcome to the federation....
it's just about time that we thought of those blinking, soundless "ufo's" to be put to rest...there's more and not just those damn blinking unidentified sparks which kept us bickering for millenia...another level please...

Look up the Hubble deep field image.....when you see that many galaxies in one very small point in the sky, it seems that it would be impossible for there not to be intelligent life in the universe. The mathematics alone point to there being countless planets and moons with intelligent life. I doubt that most of them could ever come to our planet but I`m sure that a handfull of them can.... and do.

The very fact that WE exsist is proof that intelligent life can evolve in our universe. To say we are the only ones would be like saying our sun is the only star in the universe. We like to think we are so unique, but I think someday we`ll discover that we are nothing special.

Actually, the REAL odds you need to think of, is how many other planets will be stable for long enough to support evolving life.

There may be billions of other planets out there with "life" on them but that could be swiftly wiped out if the planet is not stable - or the solar system in which it resides is not stable.

The odds for a planet to be just right to support life AND to be stable long enough for life to evolve - That is the main question.

Or have a moon put near some unstable planet to make it stable...."looks up at the moon and ponders just how could it nautrally just "arrive " there and and make the earth habitable....

The odds are zero, as in no evidence. Aliens from afar is just a romantic notion spurred by media, Hollywood, etc. As I said in another thread, we see unknown aerial objects so believers automatically link the aerial object with being capable of traveling extremely long distances, light years if you will, to get here to hang around in our sky and not get involved with inhabitants contrary to reported encounters which are in the hearsay department.

Typical skeptobunker answer
The question wasn't if they are visiting

Using an online drake equation calculator and using even the most conservative estimates for each of the variables, I was able to calculate that there are probably 264 intelligent civilizations currently in our galaxy, which contains 400 billion stars.

given the number of other galaxies in the universe, I'd calculate the odds of alien life existing at 100%

Even most scientists agree alien life is out there. It's almost a sheer statistical improbability that it isn't.

The bigger question though is, can it get here?

Using humans as an example, we are on an exponential curve when it comes to range. In less than a century, we went from riding animals to spaceships going thousands of miles per hour.

I have to think there's some older races out "there"...who've come along far enough on THEIR technological course, and they are indeed checking us out.

the odds of alien life...
100 percent if you have encountered them...

Also besides the above as far as PROOF, for anyone reading this post :
ever since we set foot on the Moon and dropped a probe on Mars there has been aliens.

The best proof that there is a civilisation in outer space is that they don't try to contact us

Well...................

I would think there is a 99.9999% chance that alien life in some form exists. However, in a near infinant universe, near infinant possibilities are present, so it's a possibility that alien life dose not exist simply because it's a "possibility". Remember though, this dose not take in to account personal beliefs, and to that end, I woulod argue it's a certainty. Yet, being as direct to the actual question I can be, one has to admit it's not 100% certain. Unless ofcourse you have a Alien living in your basement which I do not.

I think that if you don't think there is any form of alien life out there is Flat out Naive. However as to the issuse they have visited earth I don't know. I actually read a piece stating that UFO that humans see aren't from other worlds, but Humans from the future on a "Fact finding mission" or even "School students on a Field Trip studing earth history". To me this makes sense why they don't want to be seen or known, due to the space/time continuem they don't want too affect our timelime because it would alter theirs. Plus considering whats going on with the GFC and North and South Korea just makes the history study fit into place
