Boxer Christy Martin Stabbed, Shot By Husband (Update)

Well this one hurts.

I’ve been a fan of Christy since day one.

She’s proven women can be whatever they want to be.

And now, she’s showing even the toughest of us can still be victims.

My heart really goes out to her today and so hope she recovers and heals - especially from the inside out.

"This shows that no one is immune to domestic violence," said Carol Wick, chief executive of Harbor House, Orange County's domestic-violence shelter. "Domestic violence crosses all socio and economic boundaries."

Here's Christy, a fighter, a champion, a woman!

At age forty-two and now seriously injured as a result of this cowardly assault, her career in the ring is over, but Christy Martin’s fight continues in literally a fight for her life. As for Christy’s husband Jim, he was not home when authorities arrived to question him about the events leading to her injuries. He is still at large and may be a danger to himself and others.

Nothing sexier than a women boxer......NOT...women can do whatever they want in this field providing they fight a female boxer...you ever watch womens basketball......snorrrrrrrr...oh yeah women can be firefighter with the exception that their physical fitness test is watered down including the dummy drag...their weighted dummy is significanlty lighter than their male counterpart...so yes they can do some things that men can do but with some serious retooling so in that respect they are not equal...education well that women in some cases may be better but when it comes to phyiscal and mental demands not equal...sorry...and leave birth out of it because kidneystones are ranked just as painful so na na nan na na

I think she is a tough gal and for some reason i see her bouncing back just as strong as before.
She has alot of heart so i will give her the benefit of the doubt especially considering she didn't even realize she was shot.

I was the first woman firefighter (level one tested in written and practical, also a paramedic) in my area and the ‘testing board’ made no changes in any weight category in any part of the practical! Nor would I have wanted them too! So the only 'underweight dummy' here is...LOL

And for your information a woman can use a SCBA pack longer than a man due to a woman's tidal volume. That means we can stay in longer and farther and that means saving lives.

Added note: I also out performed my male colleagues because most of them were smokers, over weight and drinkers - and I was only 5‘3 and 120 pounds.

Obviously you get your information from some male biased comic book because it holds NO WEIGHT with someone like me who did it on my own as a woman and with Christy as my inspiration!


Leave it to a 'man' (*cough choke*) like you who thinks a woman can't be sexy when she's doing something that - SURPRISE - just might offend a male's ego.

Another added note: Christy has guts. More guts than anyone I know. She went out and followed her dream in a male dominant society, and KICKED BUTT doing it. And she survived. She is an icon and if I know her - she will recover and go on to continue being an inspiration for women and men alike!

Something tells me you and her husband have a lot in common...

Yeah I was thinking the same - like her FIGHT and adrenaline kicked in and she was so on the way to healing and living even before the fight was over!

Boxer Christy Martin's home burglarized

Orange County deputies say they have no suspects in the apparent burglary of local boxer Christy Martin's home.

Meanwhile, investigators are still looking for Christy’s husband James, who hasn't been seen since investigators said he shot and stabbed her Tuesday night.

At this point, investigators haven't ruled anything out, including the possibility James broke into their home.

One of Christy's friends went over to the house Thursday to pick up some of her things as she recovers in the hospital. That's when he noticed someone had broken in.

"One of the back windows had been broken and one of the back doors was open. So to us, it looked like the house had been burglarized," said Lt. Paul Yost from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

I wouldn't rule out the husband either, but I also wouldn't rule out someone looking for a quick few bucks after learning of Christy's hospitalization. It's really too bad there wasn’t a detail assigned to her home.

Talk about adding insult to her injury.

I hope she's recovering well.

I cannot believe I am reading this. Still, I suppose, reading that she is in hospital and him on the run, the house is empty. That poor woman. It is times like this when I really do wish a was a multi billionaire. That money could be put to such good use.

Boxer Christy Martin still hospitalized; husband sought in violent attack

Famous female boxer Christy Martin is continuing to recover at an Orlando-area hospital after she was shot and stabbed by her husband earlier this week, deputies said.

Doctors determined she had been shot and stabbed in the torso and left leg, deputies said. Martin was conscious when deputies arrived and told them her husband attacked her.

Deputies also are looking into a reported burglary at the couple's home near Apopka. A family friend reported the home had been burglarized Thursday after going to there to retrieve personal items for Martin.

Well, at least she’s recovering.
I wish I could get more information but that seems to be it for today.

Akron Police Department The test and standards are based on those set by the Ohio Peace Officer Training.

The men 29 or younger need to perform:
40 sit-ups in a minute
33 push-ups in a minute
1.5-mile run in 11 minutes, 58 seconds or less.

The women 29 or younger need to perform:
35 sit-ups in a minute
18 push-ups in a minute
1.5-mile run in 14 minutes, 15 seconds or less

You can look and compare the standards for the US Army push up standards and clearly there is a difference in the required amount of repetition...

And I agree this reply to the post was in very poor taste but since you came out swinging and attacking me personally...there is a great deal of information on physical fitness tests scaled down for women...like it or not it's a fact and don't let those pesky facts get in the way of a good story..

Christy Martin's husband -- who allegedly shot and stabbed the former female boxing champ last week -- was arrested today after allegedly stabbing himself behind his home.
Officials say they found the 66-year-old in the woods behind his home, wielding a knife -- and suffering from what appeared to be a self inflicted stab wound.
Initially, Martin refused to surrender -- but after a brief stand off with police, he eventually gave up and turned himself in.

The couple’s violent end, Palansky believes, may have been a combination of Jim being off his medication and becoming despondent that his caretaker was leaving him.

Christy’s mistress, according to the sheriff’s report, is Sherry Lusk from St. Augustine, Florida. Attempts to reach Lusk were unsuccessful, but she told the sheriff that the two had known each other for “a long time” and that they had recently become a couple.

Lusk told police, though, that Jim threatened to ruin Christy’s career and reputation when he found out about the affair, a few days before the stabbing.

That night, Lusk and Christy stayed in a hotel room together in St. Augustine, and throughout the night, Jim called Christy several times, threatening to release incriminating pictures and videos of her.

“Christy told Sherry that she talked to James then and told him it was over, his abuse has lasted too long,”

Female boxing legend Christy Martin would like to thank her friends and fans for their support, love and encouraging thoughts and wishes during this difficult time. Christy is making a full recovery and hopes to be released from the hospital in the very near future.

What a sad thing for everyoen involved. Just downright sad.

I'm glad Christy is recovering and i ope her husband does too. I think it's going to be a long tiem before their sould heal though.
