That's what I'm gonna do... Little Kim should do the same thing instead of warmongering.

#ROK military says maintaining ready-to-fire stance today as joint naval war games with US commence.

OK Last one for real.

USN says its participation in the joint drill will start later in the day. Should be any time now. less than 10 seconds ago via TweetDeck

Steve Herman's recently comment on his twitter.

RT @egalite_twitted: just ran database search to see how many times @YonhapNews quoted #DPRK mentioning 'brink of war.' 86 times since 2002.

I guess "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" has been used by NK too much, but one of them will be real one. The question is which number of "Brink of War" that will be actually one?

Wait a minute! We can form a thread with bets to guess which number of "Brink of War" will come true and the winner can get the prize... That's right. Unfortunately, nobody will be here to give the winner a prize.

Yeah I watched it last week another time as a matter of fact. Great stuff.

President to address nation Monday on N.K. attack of border island

He's gonna do his speech at 10AM South Korea's time... or 8PM Eastern time Sunday. Should be interesting. Hopefully it's not a declaration of war.

And while this is going on... several pieces on the chessboard are being moved.
Taiwan poll result a win for ruling party -- and for China
Taiwan conquered politically...

Russia 'gives Iran top new radar'
And Russia gives high tech radar to Iran... improving their air defense system.

Russia probably nothing... Maybe speed up military hardware deliveries to China, saying it was already planned or something like that.

BTW, the US also deployed a J-STAR plane, used to track down all military movements/deployments in the North.

Kinda good news...

# Xinhua: Situation on Korean peninusla is "worrisome." 2 minutes ago via TweetDeck

# Xinhua: China agrees with South Korea to help ease tension on the Korean peninsula. 3 minutes ago via TweetDeck

China is supposed to make a speech in a few hours.
Chinese government to make 'urgent' announcement

Hopefully not ``stop your drills or we send our navy``.

Got a little frustrated on another thread de-railed but did gain this source, if credible:

en.rian.ru...

Caption re: US/SK exercises reads:

"Participating units will conduct live-fire shooting and bombing drills"

Of course they will do live fire drill otherwise it's not a real drill. All those reports about ``no live firing`` is BS.

On urgent announcement #China foreign ministry to make at 0600UTC

#ROK presidential spokesman says Pres. Lee told China officials Seoul will forcefully respond to any further #DPRK provocations. 7 minutes ago via TweetDeck

So... SK said to China ``we're going to war if those bastards do anything else``... that might have scared China into doing that ``urgent declaration``...

Must be pretty darn important war games to risk real war over..
I don't care whose fault it is, the smart thing to do would be to call off the games or move them away a little..

+1 Those war games were a direct provocation against China.

So hopefully if China asks the war games to be moved somewhere else or canceled, Obama will say yes.

Another news.
Australia urges South Korea to continue to show restraint

Now Australia is in... at least calling for peace.

UPDATE :

Reuters: #ROK defense ministry advises all journalists to leave Yeonpyeong as the "situation is bad."

UPDATE 2 :

Journalists must leave Yeonpyeong by the end of the day (Sunday).

So now they ORDER THEM to leave...

I don't have a good feeling about this urgent declaration coming from China.

I think Americans don't understand N Koreans mentality. In their minds, they have successfully countered the world's superpower for the last 50+ years and were ready to go to war any one of those years. "Kimmy" (as some call him here) has been successful in holding his regime. When has he ever really backed down? It was Clinton that backed down to him and penned a deal which gave N Korea the nuclear capability they have today.

I highlight your quote because I hope you are right, but I am afraid you are wrong. SK has the most to lose here and that is Seoul. Population 10+ million. Maybe 1/2 million plus dead in an hour if NK strikes.

What does China care if Seoul is destroyed? They don't. SK is an economic competiter. Why not let NK destroy Seoul?

All of our brilliant military planners base our strategy on NK sweeping south and us pushing them back. What if NK doesn't sweep south and stays in their heavily fortified positions? We push into NK and we are the ones exposed with our supply chains vulnerable attacking fortified positions defended by people who will not surrender like Iraqis.

Back to China, Chinese nationalism may play a big factor here. China has been taking more aggressive stances opposing the U.S. recently. Is it more likely they will reverse that trend or continue to flex their new might?

I don't like the tone of that announcement:

China's foreign ministry said it will hold a press conference at 4 p.m. for both domestic and foreign reporters based in Beijing, adding that it will not accept any questions during the conference.

It can't be good, whatever it is...hopefully just a statement poo-pooing the excercises...:/

Im almost positive the press conference is in the midst of Hilary Clinton talking to Chinese leaders about the upcoming Wikileaks release of documents pertaining to relations between the US, China, and Russia

Speaking of Hillary, again I would point out that her hubby Bill caved with NK and that is why they have Nukes today. Also, he went and met with Kim to get that American dumbass girl back. Talk about negotiating with terrorists.

Hillary is weak because of this, Obama is weak after the mid-terms, U.S. is weak because of all our corrupt politicians have focused on nothing but helping their rich buddies.

NK would be the proxy of all proxy wars to take us down. I think that is exactly what will happen.

What does China care is S Korea is destroyed? Nothing would make them happier as long as they find a way to stay out of it directly.

I think conducting a pre-planned millitary drill and NOT ATTACKING north korea is a pretty nice response to NORTH KOREA MURDERING SOUTH KOREANS for no reason. A war drill seems really nice to utterly wiping them out...

Hmm, I never thought of that angle....so much going on at the moment, it's crazy...and confusing.

Perhaps this whole NK thing is serving as a distraction from the WL debacle??? hmmmm

Considering what's at stake, I think it an entirely appropriate response. Do you seriously advocate for millions dead a viable response to an artillery skirmish?

It wasn't pre-planned. It was supposed to happen IN AUGUST... but was delayed and delayed and delayed because of China and tensions.

So why not delay it another time? Sorry but this is a provocation.
