Still looking for a old shotgun Winchester Model 12 & 97 or a Ithaca 37 without a disconnector.
for close combat being able to hold down the trigger and pumping the shots out is great.(slam fire mode)

Had a Ithaca 37 in Vietnam and it worked great, 79 .33 caliber pellets down range in 8 seconds will stop just about anything

How is this XD to shoot? Does it have a lot of recoil? Its not to pricey either.

Remember the weight facor of the .50. add the weight of the equipment you need with you and the fact that you might encounter very steep terrain. .50 BMG, MacTac 50 usually requires "2" . guys (spotter/shooter) The Cheytec is almost as heavy as is the MacTac.50. Add two canteens of water, ammo, ALICE pack, poncho, food, medical supplies, communications equipment, map and compass etc. You will be carrying a good deal of weight. "Snap shooting" with the .408, 416 or .50 is also very difficult. One man could do the .338 Lapua depending on the mission, terrain and other features. I have posted this to two other guys. Building your own suited just to you is the way to go but can be very expensive. Here it is again. Good Luck

Excellent post. A lot of guys "reload". By reloading your own, the "lot number" doesn't change which means you "keep your zero". Crossbows? Absolutely. Have you seen this one? The one used in the "nam" manufactured by Barnett was called, "Whispering Death". This one can do much more.

I have two of them. One is the 5 inch barrel and the other is the 4 inch. The wife uses the 4 inch. I use the .357 Sig. Sauer by SA. Read your "Shooters Bible". After about 35-45 yards the .357 walks away from the others. The SA .357 is a 9mm (.355) seated into a 40 cal case necked down to 9mm. The sights are very good out to about 100 yards. Recoil is less than .357 standard revolver with the heavy M or N frame. 12 round capacity and and over all work horse. An excellent side arm for going into combat. By loading my own rounds, I can "squeeze" a little more out of each round, however, the cases are only good for about 3 reloads. Thats the trade off.

Excellent choice! Good hunting. May I suggest the Night Force NXS (8X32X56) on the "G" force Pic rail with a 20-30 MOA as well as the Burris signature High Z rings with 20 MOA inserts? That will aide you in "reaching out" and touching something at distances beyond your expecations. The NPR 2 reticle is in "MOA". That means you don't have to go convert "mills to moa". Excellent for "snap shooting". Keep your "zero" . Load your own ammo.
