To the OP, I enjoyed reading your argument. Nice sentiments in there.

However, one part of your thesis is just plain incorrect:

we can easily grow produce enough food. america in 1900 was made up of 50% farmers. the population has grown a lot since then, yet farmers only make up 2% of the population now. and there is plenty of food around.

The percentage of the population farming has almost no bearing on the appearance of plentiful food in America. The reason that only 2% of the people are able to farm is that big agra mega-corporations have used economies of scale, sweetheart deals with the government, and GMO patents to squeeze out the little guys. God help you if some GMO seed blows into your fields!

I don't know how many of you have been fortunate enough to eat farm-raised produce, but a tomato grown in a small garden tastes like a completely different species from the rubbish you usually find in the Franken-farming section of your local grocer.

That only 2% of the population can still scratch out a living farming should be a red flag, not a cause for celebration.

The problem that exists today is not money in general. It is the fact that it is not evenly distributed. "15% of the wealth [is distributed amongst] the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers)." sociology.ucsc.edu...

Why is this? It is because the government needs people to be at the bottom. If people were not meant to be at the bottom, people would have an equal opportunity to succeed in the world. But the government needs people to work those less desirable jobs. Why? Because if everyone had the opportunity to make something of themselves, society would be less manageable. But who is to say those people handing you food at McDonalds aren't important? It is people who work those jobs that feeds millions of people everyday. And to say that person is "wasting his life" is a harsh comment to make. Yeah, I agree that a person could definitely do more with his life; however, who's fault is that? The United States brainwashes people into thinking that everyone has an 'equal' opportunity, but that is no where near the truth! Only people with opportunities believe that. I highly doubt the people handing you food was wanting to do that for the rest of his life. The people in the lower-income status, do not have near as much of an opportunity as people with money. But that is how the government wants it to be. And until we can evenly distribute wealth and help those people at the bottom, the US will never overcome its problems. We have people in the United States who are living in the streets, yet we have basketball players who make millions of dollars each year and own multiple cars. Why? Because we, the consumers, are giving them all that money for our own personal entertainment, because we have simply grown accustomed to not entertaining ourselves. To be honest, McDonalds workers are benefiting society more than those basketball players. Why aren't they making the money?

no question tomatoes grown at home are incredible.

personally I had hated tomatoes for my entire life. just didnt care for them. then about 5 yrs ago I started growing my own veggies and I was stunned. what the heck had I been eating before ? the tomatoes from my garden were totally different. I love them. I actually eat my roma and grape tomatoes like hand fruit straight from the vine.

Nice thread and OP. It is amazing how hard it is for people to grasp that we could live without money and that scarcity is mostly fake. S&F.

One thing that would end up happening without money would be the battle
for resources. Think about it! That is what led to the creation of money in
the first place. How will the people divide up resources between them? They
will most probably appoint someone to be a lumberjack, he in turn will need
a lumber mill. Because he works with lumber, he will teach Carpenters.
The same goes for Masons, Weavers, Farmers, Ranchers and other occupations.
One person can not be all things to everyone so things end up being delegated
down to others. Back in the olden days, these learned craftsmen ended up
making Guilds to teach apprentices the "Craft or Trade". It is when they realized
what power they truely held over society and banded together did TPTB start to
form. They solidified their power with money. It is the resources that are the key
to TPTB true power over us. Most wars nowadays are being fought because of
the "Lack of Control" of these resources whether it is Gas, Oil, Coal, Forests
Water, Metals or Food. They use money as a control mechanisim for these
resources. Think about it! Look at which Countries have the most resources and
then look at the state of the people that live in those countries! Africa, South and
Central America are he countries with the most abundant resources now look at
how the people there live. They are mostly all POOR! Not a coincidence if you ask
me.
