I'm just curious if such a place exists.
I'm tired of being ruled.
I want to rule myself.

If no such known place exists than does anyone know if the moon is owned or has jurisdiction surrounding it?
I know there was a thread about that a while back.

If a person was capable of getting to the moon and surviving, could he/she govern themselves there?

This world makes people think about this stuff sometimes.

Here you go, the article is 3 years old so I'm not sure if it's still for sale but it seems to fit your criteria SeaLand The pirate bay was going to buy it at one point

The Times reported this week that the 6,000 square-foot abandoned gun tower located in Europe's North Sea, occupied and declared sovereign in 1967 by British war veteran Roy Bates - was for sale.

The place is a complete dump though

If you can get 'off the grid', you'd still have to answer to government, but as long as you weren't causing any trouble, they probably wouldn't bother you...

I was thinking the other day... I wonder how much our lifestyle contributes to the illness and disease that we experience, especially those who suffer from anxiety and depression... I mean, we're animals on this earth and yet we live in boxes, work our lives away, eat food out of boxes and stare at a box all evening... That's cannot be good for the species!

Wouldn't it be great, though, if a bunch of ATS members went in together and bought one??? That would be awesome!

It occurs to me that one couldn't buy such a place. anyone you could buy it from has jurisdiction over it. Even a deed of ownership indicates who's laws the owner has to adhere to, to avoid a property seizure. Staking a claim to it, and then getting that claim accepted by the UN as valid seems the only route for this. That route though leaves you with no recourse if someone comes in to cause problems as it's unlikely anyone could come to your defense before the interloper had his way with you and the property.

A more workable approach seems to be to set up shop in defended territory that the primary owning nation does not pay attention to, much as tribals in various parts of the world do, or if you are in a lucky situation follow the native american model, and set up an extremely autonomous region within the defense umbrella of another nation.

If you have enough money, you can buy anything. But keep in mind if you buy an island, you will also need to ofund all our own resources, security, education etc etc etc....oh and one word to keep in mind...PIRATES!!
