Well, after reading the replies I am not sure that you are after standard dream interpretation but since I'm here I might as well share what I have
to offer.
Firstly, I believe that dreams dont walk straight. Whereas some are believed to be literal, most dreams are your brains way of processing information,
in regards to what is happening, has happened and arguably what will happen in your life. The brain powerfully and cleverly packs a lot of info into
symbols which make up dreams. this is why it's believed only the dreamer alone can intepret their dreams because it is their very own phsycological
code.
It's quite a lengthy process, if the dream is particularly long and detailed but it is incredibly interesting to do. Like others have suggested,
write down your dreams as soon as you have them. And in as much detail as possible, as they will fail to make any sense when you return to them.
Then take each thing, item, symbol in turn, and ask it a series of questions. Such as... A empty street... A rusty car, an alien etc... So you would
take the first item and ask it, what are you? What purpose do you serve? how are you trying to help me in this dream? What do you symbolise in my
life? The important part here is to answer as if you are the item itself and let the answer flow. There is no right or wrong. You will be amazed at
how freely the answers come. So...
What are you? I am an empty street. What purpose do you serve? I give people a passage to other places. How are you trying to help me in this dream? I
am giving you the choice to stay or leave. What do you symbolise in my life? My boyfriend. (Who in real life, as asked me for commitment)
This is just an example. I am happily married lol. So next you would move onto the next object and do the same thing. You may find you don't even
have to go through them all, because once one or two key items are identified, its like you just KNOW what the dream meant. It comes to you in a
flash. It works for me. I learnt it whilst studying life coaching, I can't remember exactly whose model it is but I know its quite popular in
therapy.
Anyways, hope it makes sense and is helpful and not too conventional for you. Take care.
