With amphibians among the creatures hardest-hit by disease and extinction over the past several years, conservation groups are working to find and protect as many species as possible. Today Conservation International announced the discovery of three new ultratiny toads.

New Species of Beaked Toad

The coloration and shape of the head make the toad resemble the dead leaves on which it lives, and the only two individuals found were no larger than 2cm in length.

New Species of Toad with Bright Red Eyes

This highly unusual species has scientists baffled – they know nothing about this species other than where it lives, which is around 2,000m elevation in the Chocó montane rainforest. Scientists trekked up very steep slopes to reach the habitat where they found the new toad.

"Lost Frogs" Discovered

Awesome. I still can't believe how tiny these toads are. So unique. I'm sure it took awhile to discover these 3.

Amazing nonetheless.

Check out the link for a few more pictures.

im from pa originally and we had a frog- toad that was even smaller then thouse
around early july there would be thousands that you could find near a pond or swamp so tiny you had to get down close to see they were frogs-toads and not a swarm of bugs

I live in PA and I see those little toads all the time. They are just baby toads that have recently come from tadpoles, pollywogs is what we used to call them. A creek is in my backyard so i see those little things every year.

The first frog looks like a cousin of the Chameleon.

Pretty neat, I love hearing about new animals being found.

I live in the California Desert, so the only things I see alot of are ants.
And on humid days, tons of white flies.
