Van Dyke's ordeal began during an ill-fated trip to his local beach. "I woke up out of sight of land," the 84-year-old actor told reporters. "I started paddling with the swells and I started seeing fins swimming around me and I thought 'I'm dead!'"

Van Dyke was wrong. "They turned out to be porpoises," he said. "And they pushed me all the way to shore." The porpoises were unavailable for comment.

was it a creative dream, a story for attention or a real event?
i always want to lean towards the real event category.
but also because the story made me smile and contemplate the possible connection.
as humans we usually feel the mental superiority against animals.
what if the really do watch us, in a similar way as we do them?
there's some humans might have just stood around and watched.
others might have helped.
maybe some dolphins are just nice guys.
