Interesting bit of info about the National Guard and Washington D.C.

Hey all,

I heard of this interesting bit of news a couple days ago. Basically, a few of my friends that are in the National Guard (Pittsburgh Area), were ordered to board a plane and fly to and undisclosed location for a weekend. This undisclosed location was Washington D.C.

I asked my friend why she was down there and she claimed she was on riot patrol for the elections. She also vaguely said something about some sort of training. Mind you now, that she is a mechanic within the National Guard.

My other friend said he had to do the same thing. They are in different divisions.

I just thought it was strange that the National Guard was deployed to D.C. for a "training" mission. Also, when I was told it was for the election, it didn't make sense at all, considering they went to D.C. in early October and the elections were on the 2nd of November.
