can't the government just share powers and ask the public for opinion and come to an agreement?

I'm fed up of voting because that gets me no where, my voice isn't heard, end

why can't all of the government runners just equally share power and use it as a way forward into helping structure the UK properly without peeing off too many people?.

If they worked as a team and actually asked real people's opinions we would probably get somewhere a little better.

I don't dis like conservatives, lib dems, labour etc don't get me wrong but I do think some ideas are just plain silly

why are we not working as a team?

If I remember correctly when I apply for a job you have to show team building skills and show you can work together....

all I want is a voice in my own country and I don't even get one
nobody cares unless they get what they want.

power to the people not government stick men.

I believe we should establish a modified form of Demarchy. Pure democracy, and almost no government. Everyone gets multiple chances to shape the nation they live in, during their lifetime. But it seems to me that it would take a long time to get a movement, a proper revolutionary movement started worldwide.

you mean like a flash mob!.

I just want to see people happy and willing to help their country but only in a respectable manner

if people where to get up and say no by the thousands, I am sure people would get hurt by the po lice for just voicing an opinion, those things just turn out nasty

For America, I believe our democracy is a sham. Because it seems to me that most people believe democracy, freedom, and equality is conforming to a "social norm". It's a facist government with people thinking that voting and a majority rule is "freedom". It's not. I believe, if you want to go the democracy way, at least for America, that you need a small main branch government with the states and those people, in those states, want for that particular area. Not a majority rule, conform or deal with it. The main, SMALL government can decide on some basic rules, I would go the way of the constitution, for the states. The states can then go into more detail about what their citizens decide and what they deem acceptable punishments or "slaps on the wrist", an example would be marijuana and growing of hemp. If western states didn't have any problem with these items but people on the east coast didn't then they can change and control their own laws.

But when you have a government that controls the entire population and makes decision based on a majority, that's not a true democracy promoting freedom and equality. That is what I would consider facism and if that's what people want, then don't get near me because I won't conform to "social norms". At least with a somewhat divided country where people could take pride in their own state without having to force morals and values on other states, we could have a divided country, to some extent, while allowing people to be happy and content and want to protect what we believe in, as a whole, democracy. We would be unified due to people not being forced to accept others' values or morals while keeping unified due to our ability to the fact that we could choose where we wished to stay, like we do now, only the states would be more diverse due to the people living their and what those who choose to stay there feel and believe and how they choose their leaders.

A country with a diverse amount of states that allows people to believe in what they're choosing for themselves instead of conforming the entire nation is what I would consider democracy. The only real problem I find with America, at least, is that the government just wants to control the entire population and put the mind set into the same exact thing for everyone, which WILL NOT WORK. And that, in my opinion, is just a form of facism that promotes the thought of; if you're not with us, then leave us, and does not promote freedom, equality, or democracy.

But you're not really helping your country by doing what the ones in power tell you to do. They are doing it for their benefit.

oh shesh

sure, government ask me..I say install universal health, ask the guy next to me and he will say the opposite

I say take religion off of our money, he will say reinstate prayer in school

the problem isn't government...if your blaming government for being broken, thats deflecting the blame away from the main problem..

the problem -is- us...the government -is- listening to us, and are reacting accordingly.
When you see all the endless bickerfests in washington, its not because all but a few politicians are corrupt, its because the people are diverse and cannot come to an agreement on anything.

so, vote in and out politicians a million times over...it will -always- turn into the same result..that they represent a broken people.

very well thought out and well written,
yes I do get the feeling it is a love us or leave us situation, it just bugs me so much that we cannot do anything about it, the government must realise that people will lose confidence in them some time, it is a shame we are all "lemmings"

I agree, though there should be a majority vote. There will always be unrest. I was going to surrender my proposal of demarchic rule but, as unrest is perpetual, perhaps demarchic rule would not be so bad.

Oh, people are losing confidence, it's just sad that they didn't realize things sooner. Our news programs try to shout how we're a democracy and what not but if a 51%-49% majority rule passes for any law or whatever, what's that say. It says we just passed something for a majority while screwing over the other half of the population. That is NOT democracy. It's just, how do people not realize it? Are they seriously completely content with games, money, etc. to deal with it? Do they not care that sometimes, half of the population is getting screwed, or at least those forced to change their ways. Also those who don't have the time to go out and protest things because they're too busy earning tax money for our corrupt system to spend on unjust reasons?

The world does not have to conform for there to be peace and neither does a country. USA being one of my main examples since I live here. If we could have diversity while keeping control and not forcing views on anything, then we will have a stable country. Although there is a lot more work than just saying this that would go into it.

I actually have a lot to say about how I wish our country were run and how I believe we could have happiness and equality but too many people are fooled into believing what these systems want us to think how they're supposed to work. It's a sad world we live in.

What your suggesting is mob rule...Democracy is a totally crap form of government..as the people are generally 'tarded.

We vote for people to represent us in small areas...those people then make it their entire life and career to fully know the details of whats is going on.and vote for it...this truely is the best we can do for now...less noise, more knowledge per issue.

The average joe knuckledragger doesn't know the full details of anything unless they are unemployeed and spending far too many hours studying issues. these congressmen and senators have a 9-5 job to read everything about what is being voted on, to be fully versed in all issues, and know how to best represent the small district and that majority interest..

Democracy is a bunch of morons that have no clue whats going on, being programmed by some news commentary propaganda voting on some issue with no concept of the facts. Democracy is a disaster...the republic is a slightly more perfect government.

I would say "democracy" is just a gateway to corruption, bribery, assassinations, etc. because that's all it really is. I mean, you have examples from history, like Greece for one, and look how much corruption happened back then. And people actually believe that won't happen now, with a majority rule? The only ones truly profiting off of this government are the ones born into the "higher places" who already have the money or power, which they use to keep that money and power. Just keep people content enough to not care and what do you get. A country where people have no real power against those they believe work in their best interests. It really is just a big joke and it's not going to change. Not unless something huge went down in the world.

of course not!! that would mean we the sheep would have a voice and a choice!

and in order for the govenments and the elites running and financing them along with ourselves, in order for them to gain complete and utter control, we must keep our mouths shut and do as were told, keep working our fingers to the bone so obama can have a huge entourage and so that the bankers keep getting thier big fat bonuses!

now get back to work and carry on paying your taxes!
