Excellent discussion on this page.

I can remember decades ago when we sold Iran and Saudi Arabia military hardware, bought with their flush of oil money (obtained through our "oil crisis" of 1970s). India's growing economy is allowing it to replace its older Russian military hardware with American military products.

Boeing aircraft

The Indo-US civilian nuclear agreement of President Bush will allow for export of American technology. Will Bechtel gain contracts, for example?

There will be jobs for Americans. I don't know if the number cited is directly related jobs or jobs created in the economy of the corporations' locations. Spin off jobs.

American oil companies were in China before Pres Nixon "opened" up China. America's horrendous Viet Nam war made that country safe for making Americans' clothing years later.

With the paper economy that imploded in 2007, America is lucky to sell to India. What else can we offer to the world....cupcakes?

Until we get a national 21st century economy going, with 21st century technical jobs, we're stuck with the old school jobs. Where's the incentive for students to study math/science/engineering, as this nation encouraged students 60 years ago to win the space race? And will the new jobs appear here, even if more Americans study at a higher level? Do politicians even want a scientifically educated voter, one who won't confuse mouse brains with human brains?

Interestingly enough, our agricultural exports are helping the economy. Thank God, not everyone has left the farm.

Everyone is actually buying and supporting obama on this? wow

The white house lies about the true underemployment rate number, which is about 22% the rate is counted state by state, if you dont believe me go check it yourselves.

And second of these 53,670 new jobs where do they belong ? let me guess the government sector

O, O, O, O, OBAMA!! This is what I'm talking about here. I wish we had more jobs. Still job well down. I'm honored to call him my President now.

you know Rebel there are more millions of people whom are out work and possible these jobs aren't for any of us.
Yet your screaming Obamas yes we can very hard?
i hope you were joking about the president comment.

Obama is nothing more then the same as bush or bill were.

Good, I've been e-mailing President Obama every Monday for the past six months.........maybe it's taken affect.

Persistence works with my husband, it probably works with President Obama too.

Before he started campaigning I did receive two e-mails from him when he was our Senator here in Illinois.

He's going to have a long road to hoe with his ankles shackled by a Republican Congress and the make believe Southern Democrats (who really cow toe to the Republican agenda).

I still want to, need to believe that not all our politicians are self-service, greedy slime balls. Maybe there are still a few real men in Washington that haven't sold their souls to the company store.

Where do I sign up to get one of these Indian jobs?

Will I need to relocate?

Will I require re-education?

India is going to outsource its telemarketing to America?

The Indians must all be deaf by now from me blowing a whistle into the phone when they refuse to stop ringing back.

Its all for show

2012 is coming that means an election, of course he will read the emails but let me ask you this do you honestly believe that obama reads any of the emails? i doubt it.

This how obama claims his success but honestly both party systems are in the same coin.

If you really truly believe that the 53,670 new jobs in the US with 20 Indian deals is meant for the usa, you need to think harder.

We are still in a recession, and i find it laughable people still believe obama is Americas savior

That will cover the immigrant visas of one month.

What are they going to do with the people getting out of college?

India won't we buying squat from us and creating American jobs. If Barrack is successful in getting Walmart into India to put the Indian shop owners out of business it MAY create a few jobs in Walmarts Corporate Office here in the United States.

George Bush created jobs when he force American Samoa to quit importing cheap right hand drive Japanese vehicles and forced them to buy very very expensive American Left hand drive vehicles. Well not really, they are too poor to buy those and everyone's just walking around now. It was a good try Georgy!

India will only support jobs in America if they agree to buy our military arms. And they won't. There are other countries offering cheaper alternatives to our overpriced junk.

We will continue to shed jobs to countries like India to buy off other countries and get them to support our dollar still having value. Noshir Gowadia was the Indian man who worked for Northrup Grumman and designed the B-2 bomber. His trial is concluded and he gave China the blueprints to our B-2 as well as designed China a stealth cruise missile. He not only betrayed us, he betrayed his home country India. There will be more Indians like Noshir coming out and selling America out to further themselves due to this globalization. We lost our ass allowing Indians to come into America and work. India has been screaming their people on H-x visas in America pay into Social Security but don't get any Social Security from America.

Barrack gave them our Social Security. Hence created a couple social security office jobs here to do the paperwork and send them checks.

Doesn't anyone else see the irony?
The man who was recently given the Nobel Peace Prize is seeking kudos for creating more jobs building weapons???
I would like to see jobs created outside the Government/Military sectors.
That would be progress!!

The problem with your line of thought is that it assumes that the stimulus package could have created jobs by being spent any other way. The 'stimulus' package was primarily meant to protect the financial sector, which is the driving force of any emergent post-industrial economy. The financial sector, had it gone bankrupt, would have dragged down the entire economy and all employers with it as it created a sort of credit vaccuum, a black hole of bankruptcy. The 'Stimulus' is a well-branded bandage for the financial sector.

Note 1: The reason the auto industry was involved was because of the financing businesses that they operate as a means of getting cars into households with poor credit (zero percent APR!!! BUY NOW, PLEASE, GOD, BUY NOW).

Note 2: the stimulus is well-branded not because it has a good reputation, but because it successfully lead Americans to think that it would bring something positive into the economy. It didn't do what the people expected and it didn't stimulate any new growth, but it did stimulate continued activity in the financial sector.

The past two years have been, at best, dealing with the fallout from the last two years of the Bush presidency. I am not blaming the Bush administration for the crash, I am just saying that the crash began under Bush's watch. The Obama administration is no more able to change the course of politics in Washington than Obama, the man. They have to deal with the collapsing status quo on its terms before they are able to establish a new one - - although politics are so complex that the administration is really only presiding over the establishment of the new status quo.

These things are massive social processes beyond the control of any one man or institution. They are inevitable, tidal forces of the economy and of society that we must weather; a tsunami of ill fortune. The best that the administration can do is keep the boat afloat during these turbulent times.

I'm glad I could help! I have written a post here about the absurd link between labour and freedom in the American consciousness. Basically, I think that it is an artifact of Christian rulers' distrust of idle peasants.

I think you may be correct in that, it has been shown that the Prez's claim of prior job creation was in reality more of a job protection for hiway contractors. I'm wondering if this is more of the same, yet even so, atleast that could be people that continue working instead of getting laid off. It's not much to start, but I think we must take what little does come our way and hope to build on it.

One agreement that people aware of RFID's will love :

The Unique Identification Project: L-1 Identity Solutions, headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, and another U.S.-headquartered company, lead two of the three vendor consortia, which have been prequalified by the Unique Identity Authority of India for the first phase of an effort to register Indian residents with a 12-digit unique number using biometric identifiers. Unprecedented in scale, seeking to register 1.2 billion Indian residents, the Unique Identification program aims to enhance delivery of government services in India.

Yes I agree, jobs are being lost at an higher rate. But atleast he is trying something, atleast the rate will be lower and if he can do this with more countries other than India maybe he can get all the lost jobs back. A poster mentioned that all the job loss started before he came to power. At least he started something new.

hell no...all this is saying is "i think i will feed my kid today. here's a bite of the sandwich."

obama is huge dick and a waste of time.

all of you should be ashamed for voting for someone who made # worse

The man is not the reason for US te be utterly bankrupt.
The 2x Bush administrations are to thank for that.
Obama is cleaning up after that idiots.

But hey, probably the Tea Party will help america back on track by thinking it was all better centuries ago.
When it was okay to have slaves, social unrest extreme poverty. etc etc etc

For the moment all we have are words. We have heard words of promise before without any followthrough. I hope through the meeting in India our President was able to create jobs for Americans but I'm not holding my breath.
