That's nice and all, but I'm sorry if I'm not overly impressed. 457,000 people filed for first time unemployment benefits in the most recent WEEK, which has been about average this year. That's bad enough, but combine that with 100,000 residential foreclosures per month, and all I can say to Obama is too little, too late.

Yeah, what an ass for even trying anything. I agree, he should just give up. Washington should just throw in the towel. It is just too damn late so any good done is worthless. Give it up Obama. People in the US don't want jobs anymore. They just want to be angry. Maybe just until they realize angry will not feed their kids but until then, pfffffffffft jobs shmobs. I cannot believe we even stand for this kind of thing. Where are the riots? I bet they are all jobs that have something to do with working too. Freakin jerk. Why would anyone bother getting jobs in the US? What good is that going to do?

this is a no gain situation...Øbama gets a working vacation that has a price tag of $1BN USD...

he squeezes some 53,000 'Union' Jobs to the USA for a limited time span, well as long as India
finds a need to keep buying USA made weapons/technology.

however, with the depreciating dollar
...the India leadership sees the future contracts as less than ideal. i expect there's a sliding scale
to the negotiation... i sure would like to see the specifics of these arrangements,

with the USD decreasing to the low 70s, India will be paying neglibable wages for lots of effort...

i'd like to know why TATA motors is not permitted to export their $2500. 4 wheel auto to the USA,

If he'd actually made the economy his priority from day one, I might be willing to give him some credit, but aside from that $787 billion waste of money he signed off on, he's been more interested in passing an increasingly unpopular social agenda than the economy. Its no coincidence that he's suddenly all about jobs, jobs, jobs now that his party got their asses handed to them in this week's elections. They should have been doing this all along.

As nice as this news is and it is a breath of fresh air, this is not going to really have any impact on the country, except in a few locations. It will not help the general population, nor will it make much of an impact with the country, if only a few companies, combined with the way the government does its numbers to determine how many jobs were created and saved is any indication, this amounts to a few jobs created and the rest will be saved from this action. That is all, nothing to get excited about, nothing that would indicate a move in the direction the country needs to be moving.

Well, it's something. Got to give him that. So how many billion dollar overseas trips will he have to make to actually make a dent in the unemployment numbers? By my reckoning it'll take about 6 of these junkets per month.

From article in OP.

"As the administration sought 'deliverables', it packaged a series of trade deals, including many that were already in the pipeline. The White House said the agreements dominated by aircraft sales would create about 54,000 jobs at home," it said.

Any improvement in the dismal jobs picture is welcome but economists have estimated it will take 300,000 new jobs each month to have an impact on an unemployment rate hovering around 10 %.

I don't think we really want more jobs.

Really what we want is more money and the Fed seems quite willing to supply us with an abundance of that.

What a load of propaganda.

As if they already know how many jobs these contracts will provide. Give me a break. Do you think they already have plans drawn up and know exactly how many jobs are needed? Answer: No, they don't.

These numbers are false because it sounds like most of the contracts are military in nature and the only thing these contracts will do is allow people to keep their current jobs. New jobs will not be created. All I can tell you is that being in the defense contractor business, things are very tight right now and work is slow. These contracts are good in the sense that current employees will not have to be laid off but I seriously doubt this will create many new jobs. It's all hype to try and make this lame duck President feel and look good.

Come on guys, I thought this was ATS? What happened to deny ignorance? There is no billion dollar trip. Are you repeating it because you do not understand reality or because you are hoping repetition will make it true?

No arguement from me. He did not do enough about jobs early enough so he sure as hell shoud not do a damn thing about jobs now. That is the only thing that makes any sense.

Eh, I forgive you but still wanted to make it clear, that this is much less than 1%.

It's .211% of jobs. Out of ~500 desperate unemployed, he just got 1 person their job back.

According to usdebtclock , the unemployment rate has jumped to 19.44%

Barely a drop in the bucket - he could have done this on the telephone instead of spending all the tax payers money for this trip - not impressed in the least - too little - too late!!!!

These are contracts for exports from America to India. An export is produced in America and then shipped overseas. Americans will be working in America at American wages.

The jobs were sent overseas because the corporatists in government, ESPECIALLY in the Republican Party, bought into the myth of Voodoo economics.

The Capitalist mantra is Work Makes You Free. That is the American Dream; to slave away until eventually you succeed, and wealth gives you freedom. If there is anything to be suspicious of here, it is the American people demanding more labour.

So we give them billions in aid, and they are so kind as to buy some hardware from us.
Thats sound economic success?

More cheaply than what exactly? How much do you feel he overspent?

Did he take a vacation in Vegas and gamble big? What money was lost on vacation? Are you generally complaining that presidents are wasteful in their vacations and trips around the world or is there something special about this?

Obama's "vacation" brought in 9 billion dollars more than it SUPPOSEDLY cost (Fox News later retracted their false numbers, but I am sure you didn't know that). Isn't this a profit for American employers?

India will continue to need US weaponry. It is the best in the world and India needs it for their arms races against China and Pakistan.

TATA isn't allowed to sell their cheap, garbage cars in the west because it would undermine the US auto industry's recovery. It would also scam cash-strapped Americans out of millions of dollars as they buy junkers-in-waiting with few people trained to repair a TATA.

Oh yeah,
Obama walked in the door and wrote and closed twenty contracts.

Right?

Didn't he?

Isn't he the one that researched the deals, put them together, made the proposals, created the connections, 10 billion dollars in negotiations.........all in one afternoon? Months of work for dozens of people completed in a few hours.

Huh ?

Sounds a bit far fetched but if the media says it's true then it has to be true right?

Probably true.

I't might be true.

Maybe.

Guess not.

Forget it.

Fifty thousand jobs though. Good right?
Why do we have to go to India for jobs?
WHY DO WE HAVE TO GO TO INDIA FOR JOBS BARRY?

What makes you think this was all done in just a few hours? Your rant seems more angry and less logical. What exactly are you speaking out against? The idea that this story of jobs is true because you do not think he was there long enough to work this all out or what? I am just curious.

hmm lets see here, im gonna be honest. i think he overspends like crazy, steals money and just goes on vacations all the time,to enjoy his left time. but see that he made such big deals in india, against china, maybe the 34 ships and security is not overspending but needed, since he would have enemyes there.

i didnt know he would make a deal to make more jobs,i though he just goes for another vacation or to laundry money. i guess well just have to wait and see, i approve of what he did now. even though he could have done better job in his first 2 weeks of presidency, I COULD

So, when the government does something wrong, it is all Obama's fault.
When the government does something right, Obama had nothing to do with it.

Rewind eight years....

When the government does something wrong, it is all Bush's fault.
When the government does something right, Bush had nothing to do with it.

Why do you have to 'go to India for jobs?' Because jobs are created when there is an export market. You can't just produce things with nobody to sell them to.
