What kind of election is this?

What type of Democracy are they pursuing?

What system?

I think Myanmar should have been more creative than this, it should have came up with its own unique governing system and more just and fair, instead it simply copied the West, that means Myanmar fell for the pressure.

Thoughts?

They're electing a Parliament. The Parliament will then supposedly choose the President, probably one of the Junta members i'm sure. Then the President will then choose his ministers i.e. cronies. The military Junta holds the real power. Whomever is the president is, is a figurehead/mouthpiece.

Burma is the name of that nation (Myanmar is not recognised as the official name. The Junta is illegitimate)

This is not a vote, nothing democratic because the true leader of Burma, Aung San Suu Kyi, is banned from standing in the election and her party (the true government) is boycotting the "election" - the Junta is illegal under International Law and violated numerous human rights laws. Countless crimes against Humanity have been committed, including the eradication of ethnic groups. Yes, genocide.

It's a sham.
