First things first: I do believe that this 'should' go in the Political Rivalry forum I believe it is called, however, under political forums I no
longer see such a forum. Please move this there if it exists.
Second things second: To understand where I am coming from, I have voted Republican my entire voting life, sans the last election where I voted for
neither McCain nor Obama. I found McCain too angry/irrational in debates and feared Obama would simply be too inexperienced for the job. If I had my
way, the Republican party would come back to its founding principles and I would return to voting for them, or some kind of Ron Paul/Tea Party hybrid
party would form and I would vote for them indefinitely.
Third things third: nope, I don't post alot (why do some try to point that as some kind of debunk/discredit? I don't know), and I never post on
politics, but I do read here alot, and listen alot. Personally I find others who listen much and speak clearly on the rare occasion to be very
respectable people with good things to contribute. This particular subject has me so hot I need to vent and see if others saw it the same way I
did.
OK I know what I am getting into here, but if you have an open mind, I think you will see why this has so much of my attention at the moment....
Furious would just about describe it.
I have seen far too many times, this new Republican RHETORIC and PROPOGANDA.... politicians willing to LIE, to TERRORIZE AND FEAR MONGER, to attempt
in any way to BULLY both the opposition and their own constituents in order to seize EVER MORE POWER....
I AM NOT WILLING to just sit here, see things for what they are, and SAY NOTHING.
I wish the best of luck to the 'Ron Paul Republicans' because I do not believe The GOP have any use whatsoever for what is good for the citizens of
this country, only for what keeps them in power, or should I say what keeps them in MONEY. I side with neither party. Instead I choose the few good
ideas amongst many bad ones, from both sides.
Obama's domestic policy is a frustrating mix of good ideas(some executed poorly) and bad ideas. And he SUCKS at foreign policy. Since Ron isn't
running for President again, looks like I am voting for Rand Paul whether he runs or not, in 2012.
The 'Tea Party' movement has already been infiltrated by these same type of single-minded control freaks. They twist the Tea Party's voting power
to their own ends, BENT on this holier than thou attitude that they DESERVE to be in power, and that anyone who disagrees with their ideals is a
THREAT or a TERRORIST to be SHOUTED DOWN. Call them NeoCons or whathaveyou, but imo they lack the intelligence and respect of a man confident enough
in his ideals to have a calm and rational debate. Plus to Obama on that; he is wrong his fair share, but at least he is mature and respectful enough
to have a rational debate with clearly elaborated points and counterpoints.
On Tuesday night, I sat for awhile and watched the election results, saw democracy in action, and was pleased to see how strong the nation's voters
still are. I was pleased to see this new group of fresh faces elected, with their vows to not only oppose Democrats and balance the system, but to
oppose Republicans who had lost their way from the principles that I still believe in: Constitutional, limited government, responsible spending, and
returning power to the people through accountability, transparency of government, and the restoration of individual rights and liberties.
And by Wednesday night, all that was gone.
This 'new' Republican surge, who had run their campaigns on increasing jobs, cutting spending, funding small business, improving the econonomy, and
on the rhetoric in the House and Senate for 2 years, yelling, "Mr. President, WHERE ARE THE JOBS?"... absurd as that might be, considering this
economy got in the sh!tter during the 8 years of Republican power in the Bush years to begin with. Sorry GOP, Internet Generation or not, my attention
span ain't short enough to forget THAT fact.
And one day after being elected into office, based on that RHETORIC, all you hear them saying over and over is, "Job One is repealing Health Care
Reform!"
Wait... What?!?!
I watched CNN, MSNBC, FOX.... that's all I heard over and over. What I also heard over and over were analysts and reporters asking the OBVIOUS
QUESTION 'but aren't Americans more concerned with the economy? Isn't that job one?"
And to a man, every single Republican I saw on every channel said no, We Have To Repeal Health Care Reform!
So here we are, again. New faces, same OLD strategies: Bring out the boogeyman.... the Democrats are in bed with big business, Obama is a
Socialist/Terrorist, get ppl good and scared with your best fear tactic... then once they give you the power back, FIRST DAY, switch to what you
REALLY want to do.
And what do Republicans REALLY want to do? They want to take care of their REAL constiuency: Insurance Companies and Big Pharma. I have found it hard
to find EXACT NUMBERS in terms of corporation TYPES and their percentage contributions to a campaign, however what I HAVE found points to a HUGE
influx of money from Insurance conglomerates and Big Pharma to the Republican campaigns, so far as to dwarf even Big Oil contributions. Follow the
money trail, it will show you the REAL DEAL.
There is no doubt that Obama's Health Care Reform will need work. Even at its core, there are lots of good ideas peppered with some BAD ones. But it
IS Reform. It IS improvement. It is not the solution, its a first step in the right direction, that leads us to SOME amount of power and control in a
situation where we are currently ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY POWERLESS.
For the Republicans to tell us that what we really need is for Americans to IGNORE the large unemployment numbers and IGNORE how many of us are going
broke for lack of a job, and turn immediately to making SURE that an overpriced, heartless and thoughtless Insurance STRANGLEHOLD ON THE HEALTH OF
EVERY SINGLE LIVING BREATHING AMERICAN, is the single most absurd #$()*# thing I have heard in my lifetime, bar none.
I wish Rand Paul would run as an Independent so I could say I may never vote Republican again for the rest of my life. The Republican party is an
embarrassment to us all. They are as bought and sold by Corporate America as that lady on the streetcorner in the red miniskirt.
No doubt some of you, even ones who agree, are at the point where you are asking 'So what's the point of this post? Politicians are crooks we
already knew that right?'
Well my reason for posting this was that this IMMEDIATE bait and switch from what got them elected to them telling everyone NO THIS IS WHAT YOU REALLY
WANTED.... I found it very insulting to my intelligence. I sat there thinking, am I the only one saying WAIT A F$#KING MINUTE! Then I found myself
asking..
Am I the only one who sees and obvious bait and switch being shoved down our throats, while at the same time seeing the media willingly going along
with an agenda that says No Mr Voter, this is what you really wanted?
Or am I just a looney?
The only good news I heard from any of this was a mention of a Keith Olberman commentary on Health Care Reform. No doubt many of you have seen this
already, but if you haven't, spend the time. I try to stay away from any commentary that leans too hard left, however,I have always liked Olberman
for his ability to explain things clearly. But I was not prepared for this particular commentary, as it was obviously very personal to him.
There are 5 parts, at the end of each part, there is a link to part 2, part 3, etc. Please watch; I would argue that even if you don't agree, it's
powerful stuff. Certainly was for me.
