Calling all Liberals...the NRA needs your help!

That's right! Charleton Heston is DEAD!

No not really, he was just lying when he said you'll have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands. He's actually giving his guns away in the NRA's...

Charleton Heston's "Cold Dead Hands" Election Day Gun Giveaway

So why does the NRA need liberals help? Basically, to save them from "Moore" embarassment. In their infinite wisdom, here's the deal: Anyone 18 or over can log onto the Internet, enter the contest, cross their freedom lovin' fingers and await Heston's guns should they win.

Great, right? So what's the problem? Can you imagine anything worse for the NRA after Moore's Bowling for Columbine shamed Heston into retiring as NRA President and K-Mart into stopping the sale of ammo to minors on their way to school than for one of Heston's own guns to be used in a homicide? A school shooting? A disgruntled employee incident?

Oh the irony. We can't let that happen. Save the NRA from Moore's next movie...

Make sure a liberal gets those guns.

Here's all you do... Go to the NRA Webpage...

Clink: No, I can't join NRA and help save my freedoms, but please enter me in the sweepstakes.

Then: Yes, I am 18 years of age or older.

And: Give your shipping address.

*POOF* You're in! Heston's guns may be on their way to your happy home come election day. Skeptical? There has to be more to this right? Well of course there is. The NRA aren't foolhardy.

Official Rules:

Only one entry per day will be accepted. No purchase necessary to enter. Must be a U.S. resident at least 18 years old and a liscensed driver.

Okay, so now you have Heston's guns. Now what? Granted I'd have a hard time not selling that $10,000 set on E-Bay myself about 5 minutes after UPS knocks on my door, but I think I have a better idea.

Whoever wins, give Heston's guns to Mike Moore for safe keeping.

God, that'll make some people mad. About 5 million of them. And maybe Moore will pass the guns on someday as the "COLD DEAD HANDS" AWARD to the next activist that accomplishes something as significant as getting K-Mart to stop selling ammo. Or maybe he'll just melt them. Who cares?

As long as some wacko doesn't get them and make the NRA look bad.

God forbid.

Remember Liberals: Only one entry PER DAY!

NOTE: This is in the Moore discussion because I'm not seeking political debate or any other rhetorical contest. Plus, when I submit the link to Mike's Office of Homeland Security ([email protected]) as a warning that the NRA is giving out guns on Election Day 2004
I'd like the provided link to not be restricted in the MudPit.

Not open to political debate???

You make a post like this and those of us that want to coment from a pro-gun point of view should look elsewhere?

C'mon Rant, what is happening to ATS? Are we starting liberal only threads?

By the way if you can't pass a background check tne NRA will give you a non-firearm prize of equal value. I sure hope it's an SUV or some two stroke snowmoblies. Maybe a lifetime supply of beef. You go liberals!!

Of course you can rant and rave Seth.
More than welcome.

I just want to avoid flaming and the fate of the PIT.

And if you find a liberal only thread on ATS, you be SURE to let me know.

Let's see Michael Moore vs Charleton Heston.... Yeah RIGHT! Please give us something that is at the very LEAST a challenge! Charleton Heston is a 60+ year American ICON (whether or not you agree with his politics he IS a legend) and Michael Moore is a... a... well shyte, I don't know what he is, but he sure as shootin' (pun intended
) is NOT an American Icon!

I actually like John Carter. (oops) I mean "Chuck Heston."

Get your hands off me you damn dirty apes!

He is an icon. I think he got used for a few years by the NRA before admitting he had alzhiemers and retiring after getting suckered into that embarrassing Mike Moore interview.

But what's the Medal of Freedom for?

Is it just anyone that makes movies with monkey's gets abject Republican adoration? Or is it his "politics"?

Poor guy. Whatever the case. He probably will die soon and then the NRA's "cold dead hands" promo will be more disturbing than anything.

Seth, this is going to be painful but you need to hear it.

Long after you and I and Bush and everyone we know is dead. And the politics of the day mean nothing...

Your great great grandkids will study Mike Moore in that slacker Film Appreciation class they take in college to keep their GPA up.

The only historical film maker I can think of as controversial and hated in his time as Mike Moore is Orson Wells....the MASTER. And if I had to study his once ridiculed lampoon of William Randolph Hurst...I think a record breaking film about a SITTING President will make the history pages.

Moore's place in history is secure. Sorry to break it to you.

OMG, I so depressed now. What an absolutely horrid thought. Do you think these kids will also be taught that "Spinal Tap" was about a real band and that the movie JFK was an accurate depiction of the events leading up to the assassination? Say it ain't so Rant?

We can only HOPE Spinal Tap is studied Bleys.

Note though I wasn't saying Moore will be studied for being the paragon of truth. But from the historical standpoint? Oh yes. The "techniques" that his opponents are so intent on exposing alone deserve study.

And the vitriol he's earned has ENSURED his place in history. His mastery of media, his control and creation of controversey... oh he'll be an ICON alright.

And fighting it just makes him moreso.

You certainly have a point there!
Moore's place in history as a PURE BSer is secure as it can be!

IMHO I doubt anyone would/will attribite any true historical value to his propaganda anymore than anyone gives any credence to Hitler's guy (his name escapes me... was it Himler?) nowadays...

At any rate, Moore has secured his place in history allright, it's simply NOT a place anyone else wants to be!

Rant: Point taken. I concur. Now we can only hope in this Utopia of Liberal Arts there will also be a class that truly sheds some light on our fascinating times. I already have a name for it - The Truth According to South Park.

Oh really...so I guess you agree with Michael Moore and you think that the people who died in the flights in 9/11 were cowards....good job Rant...keep giving your money away to a man that insulted you, every member of your family and all the people who have died in 9/11....

Or perhaps students in the future will learn to plagiarize and will make it legal also....yeah Rant, good job in promoting the man who insulted every American and the American people rewarded him by making him rich....

You can always promote Moore, while he gets richer off insulting you, by making a reality Clinton's fantasy of banning the radical Constitution and the radical Bill of Rights together with all guns in America....

I'll take his place Mark. It comes with the bank account, right?

And before we go down THAT road again (limo liberals, etc.) some may notice an addition to Mike's website now. Charities he contributes to and recommends.
Just noticed that addition recently after e-mailing his personal account about charites.

And no, I'm not crazy...I don't think he added that for me.
Just enough people like me asked, I'm sure.

And since Muaddib has now found this thread to add the same commentary he's said everywhere else about how Mike insults 9/11 victims and calls Americans stupid and whatever else... I'll sleep uneasy knowing I've contributed to his inevitable Moore-Onary.

Note: "Moore-Onary" is simply a suggested medical term for the impending epidemic of Mike Moore posting related heart attacks I see coming between now and November. I'm sure the AMA will come up with something better, or Ashcroft will simply file them all under "terrorist attacks" in the latest political effort to stop Mike Moore.

BTW Rant....lets try an experiment and lets see how well your theory holds....

The above is an excerpt of your original post Rant, but I changed Moore's name for Bush...makes a lot of sense?

So much for a little humor to lighten the mood.

Muaddib-I'm a liberal and have absolutely no doubt that Moore is completely full of BS. But do you honestly think that pointing out his exaggerations, distortions or lies is going to change anyone's opinion on the Moore issue? Moore is the Abbey Hoffman of the new millenium. He is the rallying point for the disenfranchised. It's not what he says - its that he says it.

One can only hope that some good will come out of all of this and people will ask more questions and get more involved.

Sure Bush will be studied. Why not. I mean we study Hitler right?

Just joking. I know we study all Presidents to an extent. But his place in history? Could be just as scoundralous as you appear to think Moore's will be. And if he LOSES?
And Kerry gets to fix Iraq?

Bush will get the same attention as all one term Presidents. Carter, his Dad... you know, the losers. I think they study them to learn how NOT to be President, don't they?
