Canadians go to the polls today and it looks to be the closest vote in years. There really is no way of telling how this one will end up. We do know that in all likelihood it will be a minority government either Liberal or Conservative.

TORONTO - Polls are open across the country as Canadians prepare to elect what could be the country's first minority government in 25 years.

The NDP and Bloc Qu�b�cois could hold the balance of power if poll projections are correct and neither the Liberals nor the Conservatives win the 155 seats needed to form a majority in the 308-seat House of Commons.

Canada's last minority government, under Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Joe Clark, lasted nine months in 1979-1980.

Yes, things are definitly close. Basically too close for comfort.
I'm sincerely hoping people think long and hard before they vote conservative. I don't think they will, or can do anything good for this country.
I already voted, and I'm really looking forward for the results to start coming in later this evening!

It's early, but so far The east has elected mainly Liberal candidates (thank you EAST!). However, Ontario will have a huge say in how this ends up. If it's close after Ontario, look for BC to be the decision makers for the first time in a very, very long time!

Go Liberals..we don't want a Bush-esque leader!

I'm watching as well...exciting. I'm with almsot everyone else here- as long as conservatives don't get in, I'm happy. As of 8:45 pm EST, liberals are far in the lead, with 22 seats, conservative trailign at seven, NDP at 3, and both Assorted and Bloc with zip. To be frank, Harper makes Martin look relatively good, especially since Martin fought like a wolverine in the debates.

If the trend holds on, the next government will be Liberal and minority.

Current results:

Liberals: 119 elected + 16 leading = 135 seats
Conservatives: 75 elected + 15 leading = 90 seats
Bloc qu�b�cois: 51 elected + 4 leading = 55 seats
New Democratic: 17 elected + 8 leading = 25 seats

Thank god for a Liberal government, even if they were plagued with corruption. I see more positive changes happending under a Liberal agenda.
