If the wings were spread, yes, but sometimes they get the wings close to the body, almost closed, usually when going against the wind.

There could be different aspects of the seagul,
For all you know it could be a shorter fatter big that's been in one too many drive throughs, AND at a different angle.

Looking at the photo, there is something there. It's difficult to tell the scale due to the resolution and the lack of photo info but the object isn't as sharp as the background, where the camera was most likely focused to infinite. So the object is likely closer, where it's a little out of focus. The light is high and behind the photographer so the object appears to have a dark patch, rather than just a shadow.

I would agree with some of the other comments, this I think, is a gull caught at a particular part of it's flap.

I can understand why anyone would think that it's an other world object. It does look weird.

You weren't in a car by any chance, were you? It looks an awful lot like a few chipped windshield pictures I have. It looks like you're outside but I figured I'd throw it out there.

Agreed, even with what I said earlier if it was my photo it would be printed and hung on a wall, definitely shown to my friends.

No, we were outside, standing on a Marina looking at the Island across the bay. I'll accept that a seagull and a poor resolution image are a more likely explanation for this one than say, some kind of spacecraft or experimental aircraft.
But yes, it is quite a cool image and I glad I have it, regardless of what it is.

I really though you were outside but figured I'd suggest it anyways. I'm not sure what to make of it and it appears to be flying so it's a legitimate UFO.
staying tuned for more thoughts.

Ok i guess I'll chime in on this one.
Lit from the top
Dark and/or shadows underneath.

Doesnt seem to be glinting in the sun, which appears to be late afternoon, so i am guessing its not metallic.
The seagull theory does seem to interest me, but if it was a seagull it would have to be pretty close to have the same size as on the image, and the resolution and jpeg compression would not distort it that much. Perhaps a larger flying bird, such as pelican, i am not familair with the bird life there, but if bird watching is a noted hobby for the area, I am sure there are a multitude of species.

kind of remind me of a recent UFO pic taken on a Gameboy that turned out to be a blue jay. Now that was a high resolution close up and we still got confused for a while.

I wonder if we need higher resolution camera or better optics to resolve these grey-area pics...

That was a game camera, not a gameboy, taking a picture setup in the forest on a timer. It happened to take a picture of a bird swooping in at an odd angle, going at high speeds and spreading its wings. You can see it clearly when they outlined it in the thread, the reflections all made sense. If it would have taken a picture every second rather than every 45 seconds it would have been much easier to debunk (which it was to death, especially by the OP).

It's not a matter of quality of the capturing device really, but about how reflections look when on a still image and how motion distorts it, especially up close. With this it's just a shame you can't get too much definition but given the assumed distance it seems to be shaped as a fairly large object, but doesn't seem metallic as it has odd reflections but not shiny really. You'd have to take a series of pictures at varying distances to get a better idea, which is why legit video is often so much harder to get a grip on and shows a lot more proof on a good video.

Great photo, it's a keeper that one. Nice and clear, yet still not conclusive.
Would've been nice to see a few more shots (to disprove the cloud formation theory).
What did it do next? Land? Shoot off at a million miles an hour? Disappear?

That's the impression I got when I first saw the picture, that the object was reasonably large. I would have estimated maybe 15 to 20 feet across. Of course, that's more of a guesstimate than an estimate and it's very hard to tell from a still picture. I really feel like the object is bigger than a bird though.

If the object was like my sideview mirror, bigger than it appears, then it could be a bird. Since the camera seemed to be focused on the lanscape features in the background, anything in front of the focus point would come up blurry if the camera didnt have a chance to refocus on the close object. Because of the focus point, it very well could be some sort of bug that was hovering only a few feet in front of you for the brief second of exposure.

iPhone app photo? What are you on about? It was taken with a digital camera, not an iPhone.

Any iphone app photo would be much more discernable than what this image is portraying.
Appreciate the idea though, critical thinking is what will help get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for clarifying. I distinctly was puzzled about a game console that takes hi-res pictures? Game camera!! haha silly me

Nice photo. My first thought was seagull but I don't think I've seen one with wings tucked tight to the body like that. They only do that when they're diving, and that thing's a bit high up for that imo. The close-up shows up a few angles on it too. Weird one.

So is this.
