He is serving 8 More years for 40 charges of war crimes including murdering a U.S. Soldier. The mans name is Omar Khadr and he will be serving a total of 40 years in prison for all the charges. He has done some horrendous things and I'm happy he will be locked up. No one needs a man like that defending their country.
I don't think he should serve 40 years but I do think he should serve some time solitary.

he'll serve 1 year in an american prison, most likely gitmo, then serve the remainder of his sentence in canada.

canadian prisons are a joke, where even the most hardcore murdering criminals rarely serve a 3rd of their sentence, kahdr will likely be out in 2-3 years.

I have a background in law enforcement and court/jail systems and I can guarantee you he will only serve 30% of his sentence I'm canada and ik this from my knowledge of how canadas prisons are run. You kill in the U.S. And serve 80% of your sentence that is let's say 12 years. And in Canada your out in about 2 to 4 years

Since there is no proof that he committed a crime, he should not be jailed at all. The American soldiers who wrote up the report changed it later.

Even IF he did kill an American soldier, it would have been done in self-defence. The soldiers attacked the house. I would fight back too. And on top of that, he was a child. Child soldiers cannot be held accountable.

Looking at either side of this issue, Khadr should be freed. I do worry however, that he could actually become a terrorist because of the torture and inhumane treatment he received.
