Nice find. This really could have been in the planning for a longer time than we would care to think.
Since 9-11, I have been trying to recall the name of a TV movie from the early 1990s which may also
give some people cause to think. This may or may not be the best place to bring it up, but it's as
close as I have found.
The movie concerns the chase of a terrorist around the world. In it there are referances to the Achela Lauro
which was hijacked in the Med. Sea, also to the Olympic Games kidnapping, and the "recent" fall of the Soviet Union. There is one scene in which
they hold a meeting of White House officials. During this meeting the men discuss the "nation's need for an enemy to kep it's economy going".
Several possible "enemies " are offered up
but they settle on the "radical Arabs" rather than the drug cartels or Mexican gangs because it could be sustained longer, much like the cold war.
At the ending the "good guy" was chasing the terrorist thru a rail yard and before shooting him told him to say "hello to Allah for me". Yea, a
real ball of corn.
I would llike to find a copy of this movie, if for no other reason than to prove my sanity. (fat chance)
But back to this posting. I think it really was a nice find.
