I thought I'd ask if anyone in Southern California, possibly closer to Mexico, felt some ground movement, and 2 loud thumps. Occurred
less than an hour ago.
Nothing showed up on the USGS website of recent earthquakes in the area. Just
the past day, and week of activity. I checked about 5 minutes afterward, as I usually do if out of curiosity if I felt one, but saw no recent
activity.
As for the 'thump' noise, it sounded as if someone where knocking below the earth, with a sort of echo.
I personally didn't feel it, but heard the noise, my sister had asked me if I felt it aswell. She mentioned that she felt movement but didn't feel
like an earthquake/aftershock.
My father also said that he felt it, and heard the noise. And mentioned that it was more of a quick jolt. And that their was no swaying motion like
previously aftershocks/earthquakes. His opinion on the noise was that it sounded like crumbling, and was a weird sound.
I'm guessing that the seismographs would pick up any activity of ground movement, but no activity was visible on the map. But I could be wrong.
Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else felt this, or heard the noise.
Here's the latest image of recent activity in Southern California.
That's pretty strange, has anything else occured? I live in Tennessee, and last night around 10 pm I felt a slight tremble from the ground that
lasted for only a few seconds. There was no record of it and no one else noticed it. I live not too far from the New Madras fault though.
The reason why I asked is because I live in California, and have felt lots of tremors/earthquakes/aftershocks. But this one felt different than
anything I've felt, or that I can at least recall. The noise especially.
