My neighbor and I were discussing how, as election day draws closer this year, we're being barraged by a larger-than-ever flood of direct mails, phone calls, and door-to-door canvassers seeking our votes. I wouldn't mind so much, but many of them get quite obnoxious and won't let you get a word in edgewise to politely say, "No, thank you." So, we decided to hold a contest (for amusement purposes) to find the best response to the most annoying phone calls. Some contenders thus far:

- Keep saying, "I'll be right with you," in a strained voice accompanied by a repeatedly flushing toilet.

- Ask, "But is your candidate for 'hope and change?'"

- Say, "Oh wow. They're allowing violent felons to vote now? Cool!"

C'mon ATS. I'm sure you have some of your own?

I usually ask them to hold a second, then put the phone down and go about my business.

If they ask to speak to me directly, I say, "He's on restriction, is there anything I can help you with?"

And of course there's always the Lex and Terry approach of repeating what they say and asking them the same questions.

Well , Designate the UNVIEWED E-Mails you get as SPAM then Delete them .
Use Caller I.D. on incoming Calls, and Pick Up , then Hang Up on them Imedietely.
Do Not Ansewr Any Knocks on your door for the Next 4 days , and if you have a Dog on your Property , let him loose in the Front Yard with a Raw Piece of Bloody Meat .

Then go back to your Normal daily Routine and just Relax , it will All be Over Soon .................

I often claim not to speak the same language and that stops the conversation in it's tracks. Nothing to do really unless they speak my native tongue. 95% of the people don't speak English...lol

Or I just put the phone down and don't say a word. Usually solar power or some utility or telecommunications salesperson. If I want it I'LL ask.

Another one is to ask for their full name and contact phone number saying you'll call them back. They never provide these so why would deal with someone who cannot provide this information, after all, they know my details don't they?

Nice people most of them, but in a parasitic business.

Ask them to explain the difference between left and right, and you tell them what both sides really mean, and show them no left or right exists.

I ask them to just keep talking and talking while i turn up modern warfare 2 so they can clearly hear me not paying attention. After a free for all match or 2, they usually hang up.

Once I asked if they could hold on a sec then sat the phone down went and watched some TV then came back and said just a sec then sat the phone down again and did something else. I kept this up and had a lady on the phone for 35 minutes doing this and she finally hung up. I know I could have simply hung up but I wanted to have some fun...
