Is it a bird? A plane? Or perhaps -- gasp -- a UFO? Those are the questions being asked about an iPhone picture taken at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park. "This photo is extremely creepy," said Ryan Boone, who claims to have snapped the shot Tuesday before 10 p.m., while waiting in line to ride the Xcelerator rollercoaster.

The 31-year-old Beverly Hills resident sent the photo (original pic) to NBCLA. The photo, which Boone claims is not doctored, shows part of the coaster and looming above it, is a glowing, triangular object in the sky. "At first I thought it had to be a glare, but there was nothing in the sky to glare off of," said Boone. He laughed, "I've never been a believer in UFOs until I took this photo and saw it with my own eyes."

Swamp gas, ahh yes....Or Venus perhaps... Maybe Jupiter or the Moon? Streetlight? Weather balloon.... Yawn... Here we go again.... wtf is it???????

Lens artifacts from a cheap iphone, of course!

As for Knotts Berry Farm, a spokesperson told NBCLA that no visitors had reported seeing anything suspicious to park workers on Tuesday night.

There's the killer....No one else saw it... and "but there was nothing in the sky to glare off of," said Boone." Yeah, there was nothing in the sky, until you looked through your crappy camera, pointed at a light....

Its the same shape as the light in front of the camera. It has to be a reflection surely.

Beat me to it, was just about to say that all the angles/sides and orientation of the "ufo" are an exact match to the surface of the lightsource. Definite lens flare imho.

Its probably one of the best examples ive seen of lense flare. If i ever need to show someone what to look out for. This will make a perfect example.

So this thread is'nt a total loss. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that

Had to lol at this comment by the guy who photographed it:

"At first I thought it had to be a glare, but there was nothing in the sky to glare off of," said Boone.

Nothing to glare off of....nothing except the big bright lamp smack bang in the centre of the photo....

To be fair, i dont think he understands what glare is. He thinks its when an image reflects off something in the sky itself. Not the lense of the camera, but im sure plenty of people have filled hime in now.

I actually feel a bit embarresed for him.

Still funny though.

If a cloud is lined inside with silver... would that not make it a UFO disguised in a cloud?

Well i guess it isnt real cuz well you know no one saw it but him and it could have easily been forged right? But if you just look at the photo and not the story i guess it is real. I dont believe it it looks totally fake but i respect the opinion of believers.

Zman, you are surely not doubting the efficacy of it being lens flare? Your nonchalant eye casting confuses me

Clouds at night are but dimly lit whisps casting nothing but shadows under the moonlight.

A bit rough but you get the idea.
