Great fun, this discussion thread; its got a bit of everything going for it...Thanks for posting!
As to the cell phone possibility not being complimented with any type of cellular tower or receiver to facillitate two-way communication...could it be a small modern radio transmitting device set to a specific frequency? As I understand it...our transmissions continue through space, ad infinitum. Why couldn't a specific transmission be picked up in the future?

I also believe that the dark wrap-around VERY modern looking sunglasses they were both wearing were not invented at this time.

Interesting point. Not sure if that's true, but it would definitely add some compelling evidence that regardless of what's going on here - it's not just some big-footed, old woman acting oddly.

Why not?

Today you use modulation, weather is in frequency, time, quadrature, amplitude, etc.

you need a cliente that gets your voice (let that be an artifact like a phone), and then something happens in the device, that starts modulating the source in the gravitational waves, thus leaving the earth almost in an instant.

I would imagine a client (device) without any trouble...

This is not like telepathy, is actual theoritcal science that could be achieved if we happen to prove M-Theory is right, and then use it for our technology needs.

Is the woman Nikola Tesla dressed up, his way of saying "look, I invented all this back then"

It seems to me that if you could literally send a living artifact to the past and sustain its presence, that you could maintain an inter-dimensional connection, its all just wavelengths is it not?

Hey a$$h0le, that's my mom!
Seriously though, what does that have to do with a time traveling cell phone?
Even if she ain't the most pleasant thing on the eyes, your comment was 10 times uglier

Way back in this thread somebody made a post about it being Jack the Ripper. The funny thing about that is their was a serial killer in the area in 1928. I'm not a believer in time travel, but I figured if somebody was a TT, then why choose a destination unless they took part in the era, or unless something happened that they really wanted to see, so they traveled to it. The only news stories I could find in the general time period was a dam bursting and a serial killer. The thing is though, their is a really strange unsolved mystery about the killings. (spooky) _javascript:icon('
') One of the victims was never found. Even weirder, some kid from across the country claimed to be the victim found alive, not only did the cops take his word for it but they put the mother in a psychiatric ward when she told them it wasn't her son. Why would they put her in a psychiatric ward? Wouldn't a mother know if it was her kid? Ten days later the kid admitted he wasn't the real victim and she got out. But why the rush from the cops to say she was crazy? The real boy was never found...was he taken by the time traveler? If so the LA cops are in on it. Dun Dun Dun. _javascript:icon('
')

There was a movie about that case just recently I think. I've forgotten the name but I'm sure further up-thread someone has already mentioned it.

BTW - I am trying like hell to get caught up here, but this thread has taken on a life of it's own. I posted and was fully caught up around 6am EST, and was amazed at how many additional posts there were just a few hours later. Just in the past hour or so, I think it's added another 2 or 3 pages.

It's like one of those dreams where you're chasing someone but you never get any closer to them no matter how fast you run...

Walky Talky is the only other explanation. however the Idea of time travel has been around for a while. so it could be a cell phone. either way thats some cool findings and and ugly time traveling tranny

ehrr, I read "Today you use modulation, weather is in frequency.....eh bleh llaal al a o wah lee olhs hmmmm laaa........... and then use it for our technology needs."

So I totally agree with what you said, if you are agreeing with what I said.
If not, then I totally disagree with what you said.

I'm a big Chaplin fan and a big fan of all things like this, 'out of the ordinary', so a combination of the two is great and I just had to sign up and post.

Regarding the question of 'check the DVD to make sure it's not a hoax on the part of the guy on youtube', well, I can confirm that the short 'premiere' segment is on my DVD of The Circus, and mine is one of the earliest ones available (as they had more 'deluxe' packaging when they first came out back in 2003'ish, which is the one I have), and yes, the 'cell phone time travel woman' is there on mine aswell so it's not a hoax on the part of the guy on youtube.

I am honestly stumped as to what it could be as the footage is very convincing. On the one hand, it would be great to say yes, its a time traveller, but on the other hand it doesn't seem very 'plausible'. But yeah, thats the whole and part of the fun, discussing it and seeing what other people think.

Thank god that guy was there to talk about the clip for 6 out of the 8 minutes, otherwise I wouldn't have understood what was going on... basicly it it could be.anything, but here we are again assuming the most amazing.

Lol.... got your point I think... you dont imagine that kind of communication using a cell phone, ok, ok!

Using a device may be plausible, not using it... well I don't know how, but it could also be.

LOL, wait! Don't forget this is Charlie Chaplin we're talking about - the guy who makes his necktie dance. She was probably talking to a banana.

I haven't read through all of the pages, but I think that no one has realized this fact: The footage we are viewing is NOT part of the movie. It is old newsreel footage of the premiere of the film in Los Angeles. It is on the "extras" DVD. Not the film. This changes everything. This is why the "woman" talking into "her" future cellphone is completely surprised by the camera. Pay attention boys & girls!

I'm just watching it now on slow motion, I keep rewinding it, and as the scene fades you can see her move her hand, and what looks to be an object at a side on angle, you can actually tell it's her hair. I would assume she was just holding her ear for some reason and muttering to herself. Side on, it's very convincing and it does look like she could be holding something but once she turns a bit at the end just as it's fading you can tell that there is nothing actually in her hand and what looked like some form of object was just her hair and the way it was being covered by the hand.

The stars and flags for this thread have been very misleading. Page after page all I see are the same responses over and over about the same damn points that have been brought up. All of these posts have been without merit. Considering there have been other attempts by other posters (myself include, page 8 I believe) to read the entire thread before posting, I wonder what other "epic" threads have suffered the same fate.
