The hands look very odd to me, almost rubbery! Try to get the shape yourself with the perfect V in the middle, it's very unnatural. With the circus picture and weird shape of the person they could be a contortionist.

This is an interesting theory, however, I asked my brother and sister what it looked like the person was doing and they both said "talking on a cell phone" right off the bat... I didn't tell them anything about it because I wanted an unbiased second/third opinion.. I also asked them both separately so as to not muddy their opinions based off each other..

In fact ive just noticed at the wrist area it looks as if it is an artificial hand, like they have pulled over a hand glove type object!!!

The film in question, The Circus would have opened in 1928 - as a silent film. But the capacity for sound did exist and The Jazz Singer, the first "talkie" motion picture had been released one year earlier.

So whether or not this footage could originally have had sound seems like a valid question.

I wonder what a sceptic would have said about this picture in 1928. Would they have said: Strange! why is she holding her hand so close to her ear and speaking at the same time? How odd is that!

If this person was seen using a mobile phone publicly in the late 20s. We should be able to google it. Because that would have been big time news for sure.

It's actually the Great Cthulu in disguise. "She" is trying to hide a mass of tentacles.

I really hope this video is not a hoax and is infact genuine. On the other hand, its true the cell phone theory was suggested but still its very weird. I would also like to point out that people who have trouble hearing, talk louder so they can hear themselves, maybe she is talking to see if she can hear herself with the hearing device.

On a side note, the person is not dressed from a different time for it to be a time slip, but dressed in clothing worn at that time.

It's deffinitely been slipped on at the wrist area!

The Modern theory sounds plausible.
1. I could see a team set to remaster the films for whatever company was handling the movies at the time.

"Hey, wanna go shoot something with me real quick? We can add it into the movie and see if anyone picks up on it. It'll be a blast!" One lunch break later, they've got some dopey footage ready to pass by the Director, if they had one.
I worked in an animation studio (Tech Support/Network Admin asst.) where the artists did Artwork over existing commercials. You wouldn't believe how many things like that happen in a single day. And mine was a conservative bunch. Bearing his in mind, you would think that they would have come up with something better than a cell phone in a shot. I saw the scene and it wouldn't be hard to duplicate, as long as Charlie Chaplin wasn't in the exact cut, but even then they could have used a double. I know a chick who works at, oddly enough, Chinese Mann Theater who does a wicked Charlie Chaplin. People who work in Hollywood know to take any gig, even if its right off the street. In fact, sometimes it usually the better paying gig.

As far as the Time Traveller goes, it sounds pretty wild, but it would make sense to do this. No one knows what a cellphone is, and wouldn't be put off by it, unless they paid special attention. Think about if you had no idea what a "gun" was and someone told you to be on the lookout for some one carrying a gun. You'd have no idea what to look for, correct? How big is it? Where would they keep it? etc..
I don't know why we're hung up on it being a time traveler using a cellphone. it could easily be from the year 3000
talking to someone in the future. And kudos to whoever mentioned Grand Tour. I was thinking of this movie from page 1. I couldn't remember the name of it though. Thanks

I think we should find that out sooner than later - if there is no sound track we could have an extra just talking to the producer and saying something like "was that okay or do we do it again"

What a silly 12 page thread on something ridiculous.

She is using a wireless phone.. although there are no towers, no plans, and probably no one else with one? This is a MOVIE SET. This isn't an accidental capture on film of someone on a phone - every single person in that scene is an actor or an extra. And near the end, you can see her scratching her head as if confused - she looks like she has her hand there because she is confused and lost, and she moves her fingers like she is scratching her head, and there is no phone or anything else there.

Some folks really REALLY want to believe certain things.. wow.

The 3rd Geesh!
This is NOT a movie set! It is the movie premier at Mann's Chinese Theatre! Please pay attention before posting...

ROFL!....looks like we need to add this one to the game too.

Since it's less common, I propose it be counted as 3 "There are no cell towers in 1928" as that will allow people an opportunity to catch up quickly if they fall behind. So with a sharp eye, quick hand and a little luck...it's anyone's game right up until the end...

Just to point out -

We've been told that it's footage of the premier at Manns Theater. But in actuality this hasn't been verified as of yet.

the first thing my partner said was shes on a mobile, after i asked, "what can you see in this footage that looks out of place the year is 1928"?[end of reply]

[in general]
so there is no doubts what it looks like. however according to some, logic is accepting the most likely thing they can make up, rather than trying to find the actual truth, whilst i believe there are crazy theories i also believe some people just turn up declare it is whatever they think it is, then moan about everybody else and try and shut down the thread as debunked because it is logic to believe what they reckon it is as the 'most' likely.

logic to me is finding out the truth if possible. if the truth is she is holding a mobile phone, then we would never find out because we must bow down to what is more likely rather than what it actually is, its the same with other subjects. if somebody actually filmed something real that proved aliens/time travel/ ghosts or whatever, we would never find out because we must accept the most likely rather than what is actually true.

so whats the point of this site or posting anything? i am starting to wonder, a conspiracy site where people must not believe conspiracies or investigate the possibilities of something other than what we have been told to believe?

It seems like most people are not noticing the guy in front of her/him. Here's a couple of shots I took from the video.

Wow! Great stills of that...umm...whatever the hell that is.

Seriously, this takes the "WTF-ness" of this clip to a whole new level...

How much weirder can this get?!

Your right no cell phones so lets stop calling it a phone its confusing latecomers ... Its not even a walky talky. So the idea of this confuses me, for it to be a stunt in 1928 you would need to be pretty forward thinking - on the other hand its starting to sound modern, whatukno may be onto it. This guy introducing the vid is a movie maker and he is advertising that fact - what a great stunt or have we ruled that out?

K I solved it.

If you watch carefully, there is a high possibly that she is scratching her head.

If you look closely at the end, you see her fingers moving. Her mouth is moving because she is saying something along the lines of, "ah that feels good."

Watch the vid. I think its a good conjecture.
