Officials probe possible outbreak in rural Haiti

www.foxnews.com

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Health officials in rural Haiti are investigating a possible disease outbreak that could be responsible for dozens of deaths and a surge in hospital patients, U.N. aid workers said Wednesday.

Haitian government officials say at least 19 people have died after suffering brief bouts of fever, vomiting and severe diarrhea, with dozens of more deaths suspected. Most are reportedly children.

They say that this is not in the area that was directly impacted by the earthquake, yet it is an area that has received many people that were dislocated from their homes. This could be a spooky scenario unfolding in that region especially with all the people still living in ramshackle housing with little to no sanitation. What a nightmare these people might have to deal with down there and to think of all they have already went through, hopefully pans out to be nothing.

I'm sure the living conditions in Haiti are dismal at best.....this kind of outbreak could be expected, but with that said it's worth watching as a possible sign of yet another orchestrated distraction.

Sounds like Haiti wants another round of donations that will disappear in the hands of fake charities and corrupt politicians like it allways does.

For me the name alone Haiti always sounded spooky. Like some kind of weird island where end of the world apocalyptic type stuff goes on. Thats what I always envisioned when thinking in my head the name. Zombies roaming the streets, strange viruses mutant creatures..........I guess I have a strange imagination.

Found this article from today discussing pretty much the same thing.

At least 53 dead in disease outbreak in Haiti

Still awaiting lab results to pin point what exactly it might be.

At least 135 dead

Seems cholera is the suspect now. Tragic thing is the numbers keep climbing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly there was another thread recently that showed that very little of the Bush/Clinton and other charity fund donations got to Haiti. If this is cholera thousands will die a family friend was on the Burma railway he said that cholera spreads like wildfire and doesn't descriminate it will kill even the strongest and fittest.

S & F to you for keeping this updated. First time I saw the thread. I have seen it breifly in the news, but didn't know it was this bad and killed so quickly.

What I don't get, is how all these ridiculous threads with no proof or credibility get hundreds of responses and flagged and stared, while your thread goes nowhere.

Here is a story about a broken country that is struck by even more tragedy. Most likely over a thousand more peole are now dead by some super strain of cholera. They are dying whithin hours of falling ill. This is a scary story about real people dying in the streets and we all seem to care more about things that are imaginary.

Are we so scared to face reality that we now turn a blind eye to the real people going through hell, so we can keep typing away about other things that don't matter?

I just don't get it.

Thank you for keeping this updated...I wonder if this outbreak could spread over other continents....I hope that it ends soon for the poor Haitians.

Like others have stated, it is sad that so many people only care about pop culture or crazy conspiracies, then actual people dying at an alarmingly fast rate as well. And Cholera is not a fun illness.

The Florida Health Department alerted doctors there about it the other day. The article linked below is dated November 4th.

""We can expect that some travelers returning from Haiti may become symptomatic with cholera en route to, or shortly after arrival in Florida," the letter warns."
