It is nice to see some positivity within the threads, and that man on the moon is a descent cd, sometimes.

Dam thought they would have drawn it out a bit more before crushing all our hopes about 2012

Honestly though did you expect anything else, if they did not make this statement now, they would have made it on the 22nd Dec 2012

Sigh

Once again.....The mayan calender is a series of several intertwined calenders, only one, The long count calender ends on 21st of December 2012. The skeep going, and the long count recycles itself like all calenders.

Obviously the media and ATS members still havent actually learned how the Mayan calender actually works

1 should not have hopes for such activities. It shows saddness within their souls for they wish to exist in a perfect realm which they cannot achieve here in this current realm of life/death. So they are hoping moreless for a cleansing and restructure but not see the who would still controll it.

So...the currently accepted date for the end of the long count is on 21st Dec 2012? On that same day is the Winter Solstice at exactly 11:11. I always did find that odd. But I've also heard many people supposedly "in the know" put forward dates as late as 2020. Interesting article though, good find.

Great. 50 - 100 more years of misinformed and hyperbolic prediction threads to look forward to. And I was so ready for 2013 to roll around so that I would be able to put all of this behind me.

Now my great grandkids will be able to come to ATS for the day when somebody comes along in 2112 to say "Whoops... add another 100 years to the guessing - we were wrong again"

If the world ends in 50,000 years I am convinced that there will be some yahoo there saying "See, the Mayans were right!"....

As Oz said.... "sigh"

Thats the sad thing, it will never be a perfect realm or zen here on Earth.

I think 99% of people understand that it merely restarts. No one is arguing against that. What is your point exactly? The argument isn't "calender ending = world ending". That's just a superficial description used by skeptics to describe the theory. Then the debunking argument becomes "but it doesn't end, blah blah blah".

The only reason people think it's 'The end of the World' is because of the way it's been hyped in the media. They actually say it's "The End of an Age" - meaning the end of the dark ages we are in now and going into The Golden Age.

However researchers and scholars who have studied this their entire life estimate at MOST the discrepancy could be between 2012 and 2016 - I tend to go with the researchers who have devoted decades to this rather than Yahoo! news.

well heres what I got... The whole thing might be off and what not but what about all the celestial type stuff thats supposed to be happening at that time. Them Mayans were a bit known for there astronomy skills. Who knows, just sayin that if there calender was to end it'd probably end/start over when we trip the rift, when we enter a new age, when all the planets align, when the sun is tweekin out..and all that other stuff that is supposed to happen on that day in December. Just my buck fifty.

What a shame. I was so looking forward to the rest once we blew the place to pieces.. or whatever was to happen.

On a more serious note.. any genuine prophecy is only ever Possibility and Probability, hence we can change directions before the timeframe for the prophecy occurs simply by making different choices as a lifeform on this planet.

Sir Isac Newton apparently cracked some bible codes and came to the conclusion that 'The End' and the Apocalypse would come 2060.

I just watched 'The Nostradamus Effect' and some of this on History Channel!

Well! 2060 I'll be over 90 years old, so I very much doubt to be alive 2060 to see The Apocalypse!
