Huntsville-based Intellitar helps create 'living' legacies with 'digital clones'

Again science fiction becomes science fact, as tomorrow, software becomes available for you to create at-home A.I., based upon you that you can leave as a legacy for your descendants.

That's right. You can now create a virtual "you".

The company bringing this technology to us is Intellitar (Intelligent Avatar) says some interesting things about what we can expect.

"What we're doing is extending that," he said. "We want to give users the gift of immortality while giving future generations a sense of connection to their roots."

"It looks like me, sounds like me, acts like me and takes my personality," Davidson said.

Said Don Davidson, Founder and CEO of Intellitar.

"An artificial intelligent brain drives it," Davidson said. "It has the ability to capture and maintain a virtually unlimited amount of content."

Personally I am not sure how much faith I put into just how advanced or convincing this program is, but the implications of where it might take us is staggering.

Are we on the verge of movies like Freejack and The Matrix being reality? Are we about to push God out of the eternity business by monopolizing it ourselves? Can we all become the Lawnmower Man?

Rarely do stories come along which are, at once, so exciting and so utterly frightening.

Oh the EVIL that can be done with a Cloned AI Wukky! Mu hu ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I wish it was much more comprehensive, you know, it could learn my posting style here on ATS and post for me, that way I don't have to miss all those threads that need to be replied to in my own "special caring way"

well im all for future tech so bring it on. the problem i will have is when the AI becomes and stubborn and pig headed as me and we get into a debate and neither one of us gives in. now that would be strange lol.

More than one WUK???

Heresy! Blasphemy!

Wait, actually it'd be hilarious to watch! But what if one WUKKIE went neocon? Would that cause the apocalypse?

My worries would be that I'd come home to find my girl having an e-affair with my virtual "me" and then find out that she likes HIM better!

Trust me, with my relationship track record...It'd happen!

YES! The afterlife...This IS just the begining!

Personal Disclosure: I was reading a thread yesterday [an old one necro'd by someone?

See, that there is PROOF that ya don't die on ATS...ever! Cool eh!

P.S. One only needs to read some members signatures to know that jkrog [& WoS!] lives on in their memory as well as on ATS! You can check out any time you want...but you can NEVER leave!

I've been poking around the Intellitar site and it is nothing short of a total trip! Almost instantly, upon opening the page, one gets the feel of a high tech sci-fi production.

But the most compelling and entertaining feature...

You can interact in conversation with the founders Intellitar!

Here is a snippet of the bizarre conversation I just had with the Intellitar of Don...

Click here to talk to Don!

Now, to be fair, this is just me taking advantage of a bit of slightly above average AI that is nowhere near as advanced as some other varieties available. This intelligent avatar is far from passing the Turing test.. But the overall look and feel of the interaction is interesting. The avatar blinks, changes facial expression, and seems very "human" at moments.

If one thinks of this tech in the same way as others then the future might well be very interesting! After all, my first cell phone, about twenty years ago, was the size of a brick, had an antenna, and a small numeric monochromatic screen that only displayed the number dialed. My current cell phone is more advanced and powerful than my first PC was, by far.

Soon, folks, we could all be the ghost in the machine! Deus ex machina, here we come!

Unfortunately it ISNT him... hence it ISNT immortality since HE would long be non existent. Which isnt what the term Immortality means... pseudo immortality at best.

What ever happened to old photographs , stories from your grandparents and family antiques?.. its nothing but a interactive diary really with an opinion.

I don't want a clone of me...I don't think I would like me.

We definately wouldn't get along...and we would endlessly argue with each other.

No thanks...one is enough...methinks.

The thought of a digital me is scary. As if one of me isn't bad enough.

I went and chatted with Virtual Don.

He really sucks. It's an overhyped Ad-bot that doesn't even remotely come close to representing a unique human. I am pretty sure Skynet isn't in the future cards of this project.
