A United Middle East

Even IF the entire middle east joined together in a coalition and NO middle eastern countries were selling oil to the U.S. it would not make a dent in the U.S except to drive up oil prices. The fact is only 20% of the U.S.s oil comes from the middle east. Ever since the creation of OPEC in the 70s the united staes has been giving its oil money to south america. So let em become an MEU who cares?
As for them being able to challenge the U.S. military, Are you on drugs?

In traditional combat sure the US has every advantage. But what we don't have is hunter-killer cells in every city and our soldiers aren't willing to sacrifice them selves by suicide bombing. So sure the US can invade and dominate traditional styles of combat along with placing a city under siege. But once cities start to be taken resistance groups can hit us from behind our own lines. Guerilla warfare has been our main weakness ever since we started fighting guerillas of different sorts.

However how much damage can guerillias really do? Even in Iraq though the death toll is high, as a percentage of our troops how many have really been killed? And the simple fct is the more hit and run type wars we fight the better we get at fighting them.

Dude, get a grip in 2002 The US imported 9140 thousands of barrels a day. OF that 4456 came frum Gulf States and Arab OPEC countries. Thats almost 50% not 20. Thats a huge difference and means more than higher oil prices. You should check things out before you spout figures off the top of your head. Mine come from the DOE

Also, your right that any standing army cannot take down the US, but Im talking about Urban Warfare and Guerilla fighting that will require us to reinstate the draft at the least to occupy all that territory. Not to mention a population base that will be 100% hostile.

Quite a bit. How hard do you think it will be to guard every oil well, production facility, school, base, hospital, post office etc etc etc. You may think the death rate is acceptable for US forces right now, but multiply that by several countries, and remember at least some of the Iraqi's do want us there. How fun would it be if they all wanted us out?
