Turning Back Time

I look at time as nothing but a name for something that always moves forward and never back,
something that moves in a linear direction, and a something that is nothing at all.


I want you to entertain the idea that controlling time is possible for a moment.
It can be really interesting, especially since researchers have declared it possible.
Read on.

I've come across something that suggest controlling time can be done without breaking the light speed barrier, without violating the laws of physics.
I thought this was very interesting, but I want more of the science behind it.


Just think of all the things that could be done on a global scale. It's astonishing.

Besides the obvious fact that government is driven by politicians who frivorously grab anything relating to power, and time-control definitely is power, organized religion comes into play. The fear is that the Long Island, New York space experiment laboratories could turn back time to the era of Jesus. Viewing what truly occurred might induce religious riots that explode out of federal control. The same is true of past national conflicts. History becomes fact as told by the victor. A factual look at World Wars I and II might appear much differently than told today.

Is the thought of someone out there being able to control time frightening?
Do you believe it to be true?


I'm more interested in the mechanics of it. Going back with your current body and thoughts?
Sounds very risky to me.

Navigating through this pattern of closed time-like curves will permit time travel to both the future and the past without violating the laws of mathematics and physics.

Tell me what you think of the idea of controlling time, and would you turn back time if you could go back?

If controlling time is possible, I doubt turning back your body and not your mind would be possible.
Your brain being developed completely now would probably kill you if you went back to being a child.

So if you turned back your age, you'd likely have to go without having the knowledge you do now.
Then it would be pointless and nothing would change.

What if you could take your thoughts with you?
I like that idea. It would be what I'd want if I could go back. A child's mind is big enough to hold quite a few thoughts, so I guess it isn't that crazy of an idea.

Tell me what you think of this. What would you do? Just entertain the theory.

Go back in time as you are now, or turn back time with your age and all events?

Would you go back and murder everyone you could while you could get away with it or would you be more of a pleasant person than ever?

For me, I believe that control over time being possible is the most dangerous thing that could happen to humanity, especially if more than one country can do this.
I can just imagine a new kind of war at the hands of man.

That sort of control should be left in the hands of one, and one alone, although what if one individual like you or me could?

We believe time to be linear, yet ancient civilisations believe that it is infact a cycle.
Look at the mayan calendar, they looked at time in different cycles, and that there were 5 cycles of time that the universe were to go through.
They measured time through the changes in the stars and the universe.
From this we can conclude two things, that time is a measurement and we measure it through change.
But try to look above that, and your mind becomes extremely confused (as what is happening to me now as i ponder it. lol)
But think about it.. if its a measurement, does it actually exist?
Its like meters and litres, they dont really exist, they are just measurements.
So really, i think we are stuck in the confinements of time, like looking out of bars. Stuck in something that effects us that does not exist, like it is some sort of illusion.
So if we can understand and manipulate this illusion, then maybe we can control time.
and if it is theoretically possible, that also says something

all those what ifs..woulda's and shoulda's.. i could of been more, i could of been great!
i guess we all have those thoughts.. wanna have control over time?.. past and future? its in the moment, like right this instant.. which will be the past by the time anyone reads this.. anyways, their was a 'time' that i would have loved to go back and fix some mistakes but.. now, i dont think i would, im pretty happy just watching the world turn..so, i guess the way i see it is, man fears time, time fears the pyramids, the pyramids fear chuck norris..

Theoretically, don't you think it would be awful if time could be controlled?
We would never know what things changed if they did, if someone went back in time and stopped something huge from happening, we wouldn't know.

It's so exciting to think of how that could have happened before.

Yeah i think its horrible because of two things, its against nature and anything that can be used for ultimate good always gets turned around to be used for the exact opposite.
And maybe some horrible things are just ment to happen
but other then that, it would be pretty cool

I want you to entertain a world that isn't broken on a fundamental level.

First - you have to understand what "time" is. It is simply what separates the state of our universe now from the state of the universe in its next and most immediate state. Time, therefor, is an illusion. It is an emergent property of quantum mechanics. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Time travel in any classical sense is impossible, as time does not exist. Relativity? Even Einstein failed to grasp the implications of his theory. When you consider gravity as an emergent property of subatomic entropic functions, there is no conflict between relativity and quantum mechanics - the two provide and predict for each other. What also happens is that space-time ceases to exist in a literal sense. Gravity no longer controls time, but is merely a reflection of entropy. Thus, causality can never be violated (you can never travel across time).

However, provided you had some method of traveling to another universe - it is theoretically possible to search for other universes with regions of space similar to those that existed in your past. Finding an exact match would take a prohibitively large amount of energy - so there would be a large possibility that things would not be all the same - the differences could range from entirely different planetary arrangements to just a few electrons having a different spin somewhere off in some corner of the universe.

It should also be noted that there is no guarantee events will play out the same way. Things will remain fairly similar for a while, depending largely upon the degree of accuracy, but will eventually rapidly assume their own chaotic progression through events. This is going to be most dramatic on subatomic scales, but will eventually manifest in larger systems as "that isn't what was supposed to happen."

Thus - you would never be capable of traveling through time - only to universes with similar properties to that of your past. Provided such universes exist and could be traveled to (a rather large leap of faith.)

What do you think of the links I supplied? Pretty interesting to entertain. They are saying that it IS POSSIBLE to travel through time.

I'm not convinced either, but I'm fully open to the idea of time travel being possible.

As for parallel universes, I could never get in on the fun of speculation.
Same for breaking the light speed barrier.

Time is a complicated subject, some of the best minds in science have award time with it. Pun intended,

Time traveling to the future is without a doubt possible, you just have to warp space/time enough. So in theory it is possible to travel to the future.

The past? Now that's a different story. There is so many levels to understanding how it would be possible to travel back in time, and not only that, it would take a lot of energy.

If, in the near future, we can find a decent supply of anti-matter, then that would open a lot of doors. Not only with time travel, but with space travel as well.

Energy is one of the most fundamental things that is holding us back as humanity right now. We need to stop burning fossil fuels and start looking forward.

When another form of energy is tried and tested and becomes the norm, that's when we will see big things happen. We are at the end of our rope now and need something else to advance.

Actually, I believe I'd much prefer to live 'Outside' of time. I think of it as more of a cycle, than anything, but certainly not linear, so I guess 'immortality' would be my preference. I'd prefer not to really have the ability to drastically change anything on a global scale, just to progress WITH the civilization. When the world learns it's round, I learn it. The experience of all the years would be the real prize.

Overall, I just don't think that kind of power should be held by anyone (ability to travel forwards and backwards in time). It's simply too much power...
