Hey man nice to see you back on ATS. Your posts are always very intelligent and thoughtful. I know you don't think their is proof for aliens so
obviously you'd find this hypothesis a bit hard to stomach. So let me just add a few things..
I realize that bugs can eat mice. Overall though, I would say science supports the idea of a mouse being a more complex creature than an ant. But
that is not really the only point I'm trying to make. In fact the notion of bugs being able to do things equally as good as a mouse or even better
is (again) central to my argument. Earlier in this thread I talked about why Type II aliens would be more suited to approach our awakening
civilization than Type III aliens. Even though Type III aliens would have access to more energy, knowledge, capabilities, etc.
Okonomiyaki, how about if I choose another angle to try and frame this in your mind. Think in terms of the
technological singularity. Many people believe in the possibility of this event before having
to worry about "aliens."
What they are gravely discounting is the age of our reality. Logically, the technological singularity already
happened given the immense age of our galaxy. There is already a "super intelligence" out there whether you want to think of it in terms of super
computers, aliens, or whatever. The singularity is not when machines overtake us. The super intelligence is already out there waiting. The
singularity is us waking up out of our ego-centric acid trip through the process of acquiring knowledge via science. We are the machines Okonomiyaki.
We are rising to intelligence as supported by historical fact. Again, there is no reason for mankind to be able to build a nuclear rocket. That is
not required to kill a deer and feed your family or tribe. We have been set up by these beings. They have pitted us vs ourselves so that we could
evolve the ability to understand anything at all. That is the whole point.
The reason the super intelligence hasn't destroyed us is because that makes zero sense. Every living thing evolving to intelligence in this galaxy
would have to (be definition) go through the first civilization. The first one to survive their rough "childhood" and set up a galactic
organization. And ALL civilizations come from the first primordial radiation that was present after the big bang. This is why they have such respect
for the circle of life. Because they have their origins in similar places like Earth. For the same reason you don't kill your child for chewing
with his/her mouth full or breaking an expensive vase after you told them not to touch it. They understand that we have ALOT to learn and it takes
eons to learn and develop appropiately.
I'll leave you with this...
There are 3 possible solutions to Fermi's Paradox:
1) We are alone in the universe. A fluke lucky accident. If there is any other life at all in this universe it is likely bacteria, nothing too
intelligent.
2) Civilizations are common but come and go. Perhaps, occasionally civilizations rise to our level or even beyond. Unfortunately they're always
eliminated by natural causes or self-made ones (nuclear war, etc).
3) There is a galactic civilization but we have been so far been unable to discover it's existence.
I've made my choice. Make your choice.
