Foremost, I would like to state an intention of this thread. I am not addressing whether or not nine-eleven was an inside job, or any of that. We're told that those responsible were Muslim. What I am wanting to do is pretty much conduct a poll of ATS members regarding the following question:

Had those accused of being responsible for the attacks of 9-11 been Catholic , how much of an opposition do you think there would be to building a Catholic church near ground zero?

I don't remember any construction based hyperbolic reactions happening in Oklahoma City so I'd say, off hand, none.

None at all! Well they rebuilt a Catholic Church; as well other buildings before the Islamic culture center.

McVeigh was an agnostic so that doesn't hold water.

You can google it, you will find direct quotes of him saying this.

You're a liar. He was a believer in God. Still it is wrong what he did. Don't blame him on people who don't believe in God!!! Source!

All of it has the least to do with religion and more with distractions.

I live in NYC and a mosque near ground zero means nothing because there is a strip club couple doors down.

Also there is already 4 mosques in that area, and have been there for years.

You choose your own beliefs, no pun intended

He is a Christian/Antagonist. Still he did believe in a God. You can't deny that.

The OP asks a very interesting question. I am certain that it would be less to no concerns involving them if that were the case.

What I find VERY DISTURBING is when I see certain political parties and affiliates (on the right wing side obviously) who are ALWAYS shouting at the top of their lungs on and on about constitutional rights, and freedoms etc (fears and concerns generated purely from propaganda, misinformation, and the spewing of complete LIES from certain head-figures whom shall remain nameless ) but yet when it comes to other types of groups or folks who do not subscribe to the right-wing clan and beliefs, they appear to have NO PROBLEM DISMISSING the constitution, rights and freedoms for them!! VERY DISTURBING.

And I am both conservative in many ways, and liberal in many ways. My opinion and views are free from any usual 'right' or 'left' bias.

If religion does make any difference, than its a 2 way street.
Just look throughout history, crusades or spanish inqusition anyone?
I dont recall the "christians" being very friendly people either.

Just my 2 cents.

First of all, to clarify something, suicide hijackers are only indigenous to the Muslim faith. To even suggest that Catholics can commit such an act is sacrilege.

To assume that one distinct religious group was behind such a complex military operation is an insult to one's intelligence, to say the least. A handful of very powerful, wealthy and influential countries (with various religious backgrounds) all must have had a hand in 9/11. The hogwash that this plan was hatched in some cave by a handful of bare foot Neanderthals only panders to the public's primal need to stereotype and rationalize.

Hey, I'm just asking the question, which removes all other factors besides religion. No one's attempting to insult anyone's intelligence. I'm trying to remain impartial. Doesn't matter how complex the operation was, all I am discussing here is the religious belief's of the alleged terrorists and how if might be perceived differently if they were Catholic. It seems that the US, especially Bill O'Reilly is condemning an entire belief system based on the acts of a few people. How many people who respond to this post agree with him? That's all I'm asking. . .why so defensive?

By the way, it's only "sacrilege" if I believe in that faith. Not saying I do or don't. Your definition may be different from mine, or anyone else's for that matter. However, I'll note that your post proves at least part of my theory.

Many religions and races have had people prepared to die in the act of killing others..
It is NOT just the Muslims..

Remember the Japanese Kamikazi pilots, or the Vietnamese bombers???

I agree. . .in fact they were one of the first group of people who came to mind when began this thread. I suppose, though, there are many others who have the same dedication, and wh never hear of them thanks to MSM
