i think when its aired in the same fashion as "unsolved mysteries" people tend to shuffle it to the same spot in the back of their mind. some kind
of pending "we'll never know" void in their brain that prevents them from ever seeking an answer to begin with.
and they forever remain, unsolved mysteries.
now if its treated in a more investigative mannner, people tend to be more open to the possibility of a future answer, and not automatically reject
anything that takes it out of the "mystery void".
