The Democrats and Republicans are destroying us

I know for most of you there is a set core values and you can argue it's your parents who instilled this in you, environment or what you learn through life. When it comes to political affiliations why do people get so angry? Are we so naieve to think one side is actually better than the other? But yet we sometimes force our view and opinions on each other. If you are a die hard Republican or Democrat do you ever find yourself defending your side even though you know they have let you down? Have you ever found yourself defending your party when someone points out some serious short commings of your party only to point out theirs? This is the problem with aligning yourself with one party. Can you really say that you wouldn't want all of the families across America to have a nice Thanksgiving Dinner or a cake for their childs birthday, should a child suffer because of bad choices made by parents? Do you feel guilty when you walk by someone needing help but you do your best not to make eye contact and you consider yourself on the side of the poor and less fortunate? Are you one of the citizens who believes we take care of our people first and then we can help other countries? Is it ok that jobs are sent out of the country for pennies on the dollar. Are you ok with a war that started as just and necessary only to be re-routed to liberation? Billions and billions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost yet we are suppose to be the superior force when it comes to war but the reality is we are still here regardless of the "Mission Accomplished" statement or the pledge to end this war and pull out of the middle east. I guess my point is that if we come together as free thinker that should translate into independent voters because as a free thinker one might assume you should not be held to any one group and that because you are a free thinker you are able to view all sides of the spectrum and make changes without feeling guilty because it's the right thing to do. Look at what has come to be accetable and easily forgotten;

Congressman Tom Daschle failure to pay 128,000.00 in taxes
Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner failed to pay 48,000.00 in taxes
Congressman Charles Rangal failed to report 75,000.00 dollars in income (Rental Property)
Former President George W. Bush Katrina, didn't pull us out when no weapons were discovered in the middle east
Former President BIll Clinton Sex Scandal in the oval office with Monica Lewinsky
Former President Ronald Reagan Iran Contra and who can forget Reagonomics
President Barak Obama I don't think I need to say anything just google his campaign promises such as no more lobbyist and transparency to name just a couple
Former First lady and now and now Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton Whitewater scandal
Congress that votes on bills without reading them
Barney Frank Sex with a male prosititute, you can check time magazine for that one
Michele Obama Lobbying at polling stations
Larry Craig US Senator Soliciting sex in a bathroom stall
Senator John Edwards former presidential candidate had a sex scandal while is wife was dealing with cancer
Arnold Schwarzenegger???

It is not necessary to comment how is either a dem or a rep...both parties do a poor job with integrity, family values and accountability. Can you imagine what would happen if everyone registered independent? I think both sides would collapse and fade away as the lines would get so blurred there would be no need for them and that sounds pretty good to me...

I think I can honestly answer "no" to almost all of your questions. I feel that everyone is going to be biased regardless of their affiliations. The whole political party revolution in the late 80's and early 90's is when democracy really started to crumble. There were scandals all the way through history I'm sure but when Technology started to be utilized in campaigns such as databases and correlating them to registered voters "groups" they begin to lie more effectively. Democracy still exists even with this information but the masses are manipulated into thinking they're making an actual decision. Then all they do is just the bare minimum to placate them. I have to admit that I fell prey to this on the last election and didn't realize it until it was too late. I'm still fairly young compared a number of voters but I felt slighted and vowed to myself I'd never let it happen again.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. That saying can go WAY back but it never rang more true for me until I found out about the grouping structures that the campaign teams used in order to market to certain types of people. They identified which groups were most likely to vote given the charge and how to give them that charge. This is just a massive amount of manipulation of which I don't care for and feel that civil liberties are at stake here. If they can manipulate the populace to vote in that manner who's to say they can't manipulate them into giving up their freedoms...

Politicians are destroying us, Democrat and Republican are just masks they wear in the public farce that is the system.

The vast majority of career politicians either succumb to corruption and the elite mindset or were of such to begin with. You want change?

Cut all corporate ties to politicians.
Fix journalism.
End lobbyism.
End Cronyism.
100% Transparency.
100% Accountability.
And law that would undo the above would be punishable as treason.

and you have yourself a good start.

It will never end. I would never condone violence... I think violence only begets violence... but sometimes I think the only way TPTB would ever change is if they were physically forced to change... And for that to happen they would have to start feeling the actual pain they inflict on their own country and the world... they would have to feel it right up close and personal, feel the fear for themselves, they would have to feel that they were not in control, and that they were outnumbered, and they would have to know what it's like to truly beg for mercy, ... then and only then MAYBE...

Or plan B... wait for their Grinch hearts to grow three sizes. Yeah, that'll happen...

I agree with every thing the op says, I even think that the Idea of everyone registering independent would help. But as eNumbra stated that the only real way to have a fair system is to follow what he has listed.

I don’t think that will happen anytime soon, but I wrote a letter to Dr. Ron Paul last night, I told him that I felt that he is the only real chance we have of turning things around. I know everyone is not perfect but I feel he truly cares about the people. I also offered to work for him full time, at no charge, if he would make a serious effort to run. I don’t know what else I can do to make a difference, but I think our future freedoms depend on this outcome. If we don’t get some one different then the normal tax and spend guy, we are all finished. It is now or never.

they have usurped more power of american lives than any other group in this nations history............and they will not stop they know best and you dont know jack...........

there is one party in this country that stands far above the other one...........................and yes i have my problems with the right but they dont hold a candle to the left............
