Millionaire Segway owner dies in freak accident

www.telegraph.co.uk

The millionaire owner of the Segway upright scooter company has died in a freak accident after riding one of the machines off a cliff into a river.

After dropping from the bridleway, he is understood to have fallen 80ft over the overgrown cliff and his body was discovered in the river after a passer-by called the emergency services.

Police said his body was recovered from the river but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wow what a way to go for anyone. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I had to stop from laughing [I know that's pretty morbid]. This can't be good for sales.

Of all the ways to go he had to go that way.

I wonder why the Pentagon would have spent so much money on these before the so-called war on terror began? -

In the late 1990s the Pentagon alone bought more than £53 million worth of the flat pack walls for use in Iraq and later in Afghanistan.

Another military contractor meets freak accident. I hope this death is looked into very closely.

The pentagon is HUGE they would need many of those to zip around the building.
Either that or buy skateboards for all those fat Generals.

How ironic! Sad for the family, too.

On another note: I've always found those machines a bit ridiculous. There are certain places they may be appropriate, but I've only ever seen them used by contract/private security workers and frankly, they should be on a bike! IMHO, of course... Lol.

This sounds suspiciously like a classic internet "freak accident" rumor, although many reliable sources are now reporting it. Still, I'd wait until the end of the day just in case Jimi starts tweeting again.

I agree it does sound like one of those. But like you said it is being reported now by many other sources

Segway owner dies after falling off river cliff

LONDON — All police found at the bottom of a cliff was a man's body in a frigid river and a Segway, the two-wheeled electric device that was supposed to revolutionize personal transport.

It was Jimi Heselden, a one-time laid-off coal miner turned self-made millionaire who had bought the Segway company only 10 months earlier. He apparently fell to his death while riding one of the sleek black-and-silver scooters. Authorities said Monday his body was found in the River Wharfe at the base of a 30-foot cliff.

He must of had a badass segway to think he could ride off a cliff and land in a river.

As sad as it is I think it's kind of funny in a way.
The guy was kind of up there in age. What made him think he could go hot rodding around on trails?

Well, 62 isn't that old if someone is in shape. My dad's still out climbing mtns!

The police do say that it's not a suspicious fall and if there is any silver lining here, it's just that a tragic accident is not made worse by turning out to be a malicious act (let's hope)... The guy sounds like he was a good man.

Wonder if it was fowl play? I mean you know he was worth far more than a million or so, that thing is cool. At least he died in his boots.

Jimi Heselden was in my opinion a member of OWO (Old World Order).

In 2006 he was appointed "Officer of the Order of the British Empire" and he was also rewarded by the queen for his services to the Defence industry so this dude is for sure a member of OWO.

So did the illuminati wacked him...for what reason...or was is some of the other groups out there fighting over world power.

This was no accident...but that's just my opinion.

That's a very good question.
I'll dig a little deeper and see what I can come up with.

People die from slipping and falling also. The segway wasnt the future and it sure isn't a death trap.
