Some will, some might not. Wine is usually the way to go for windoze games in linux:

I haven't personally made the switch away from Windows permanently, mostly due to specific software only being available for windows (Yes, yes, there's Wine, but my Ubuntu box hates it).

My laptop has a dual boot XP and Ubunutu 10, but I only really use it for traveling, since public wifi sometimes hates windows and loves linux, or vice versa.

My dad, however, is loving linux. He has 6 machines that runs different versions. His favorites so far are Ubuntu and Mint.

I just wish someone would develop a more "LordZero Friendly" GUI. That's probably my biggest setback.

I'm am thinking of going back to Linux on my main computer. But, I do want to keep Windows around for familiarity, because most computers are Windows that I work on.

If not for the fact that I work on Windows machines, and I have 2 pieces of software I rely on Windows for, I would switch to Linux. Magic Jack, and Metatrader 4 are my two main Windows software programs I am really connected to for Windows. I have got to have reliability extra for sure on my Metatrader software with my robot running on it.

I'm really disappointed with Bill Gates as he is a supporter of Monsanto. If you can, that's a good reason to stop putting money in his pocket. Bring Linux mainstream.

i'm a linux user - and have been for over 5 years,

mandriva linux is my weapon of choice, not because of virus issues but because i want a computer how it should be - mine

windows users only buy the right to use windows, its not theirs,
linux is owned by the person who installed it,

windows is full of crud that bogs it down, slows your pc usage down - unless you spend, spend, spend on more powerful hardware, faster this and that,

my pc has a single core p4 3.4 prescott and 3 gb ram - faster than any windows pc i have used,
it can do anything windows can (apart from play games, but hey, i have an xbox)

I see a few comments on here about not being able to play windows games on Linux. Its just not true. I can even play BigFishGames on mine. Wine has a lot of different downloads. I use:

There are different wine apps, the trick is in finding the right one.

I NEVER whant to use another windows no matter how good it is!

I too have a small computer repair business, in Southern Ohio. I too try to get people to try Linux, especially those who like to cruise the porn sites. With a secure Linux OS you can go anywhere and not get infected, redirected, or spied on. I have been installing Microsoft Security Essentials on customer's computers will real good luck. Takes the place of an aftermarket Firewall and Virus Protection. I also install CCleaner and SpyBot Search & Destroy on all of them, plus I set cookies for 1st party only, and no 2nd party allowed, and delete temp file on exit. I have taken in computers with over 1500 cookies on the drive, and a registry that is so corrupted nothing would launch. I now only fix them, I teach people how to keep them clean and safe. And I tell them all about the freedoms of Linux.

I have to dual boot, win 7 and linux, vista drove me to linux, win 7 is outstanding but
..linux is ultimatly better in the long run... But dual booting gives me both...

Diched windows 5 years ago, since then tried most linux disto's, sticked with openbsd allmost a year.

I am going towards Linux, but I have too many nice programs that are windows based. (Photoshop CS3, light Room) I don't think they can work in "Wine" can they?

I've abandoned Windows based operating systems after more or less enjoying them for a decade, rather out of philosophy than out of practical need.

Since four years I am a Linux enthusiast. I'm doing 95% of my stuff on Linux now - currently a heavily customized Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: Surfing the web, Shopping, Communication, Software development .. welcome to the world of open source, where your box is really "your" box, and not subject to unannounced and mysterious close-sourced "security updates" that do what they want to your PC without you ever having 100% knowledge of what is going on "behind the scenes".

My nowadays Windows box ? It's a Windows 7 that I only use for recent games now and then ( not a frequent gamer anymore, these days I gain more joy from coding software and scripts ). And when I'm not actively using the internet, I deactivate the network connection on the Windows box by plugging the cable.
